There were apparently cliques on the Jets during Maurice' tenure. Wheeler is probably the biggest problem. Who konws if that has had any affect on Dubois' performance.

None of us are in those locker rooms so hard to say if it’s a whiner attitude from PLD or toxic crap that warrants moving out (before signing your big contract that will define your career / life in mid 20s-30s, where you will raise your kids, etc).

WPG leadership group is reportedly very religious / Christian , they have a team chaplain (!!) and they kind of admitted they treated like crap Laine. I can’t see why a 24yr old guy would prefer to play in his home province for MSL with a leadership group that doesn’t lead prayer groups…

I would not trade Barron. No chance in hell.

If the Jets want any of these, we could talk:
Strubble
Dvorak
Anderson
Lesser picks. (They probably want NHL players though)
Replace Anderson by Ylonen and it's a deal !

Interresting post. Now we learn something new in the debate.

If we want to pick up a Dubois, with his obvious reputation for not giving it 100 all the time, we need a guy like Andy around to keep him honest and even drag him into the fray on occasion. This team is starting to look pretty good on paper, Anderson is part of that to me.
Not opposed to that and the two have history. I was talking more in general terms about money in and out. Evans as a 3C is not ideal to me, but I think we can manage if we load up the top-6. We can find a veteran 4C pretty easy via FA or promote within.

Do you want to want to risk spending $8 million over the next 8 years to find out the cancer that’s seems to follow him everywhere was in fact him all along? Nope. No thank you. Don’t need him. Next!
We don’t know how much he’s getting but at market value or less, absolutely I would. 6’4” established NHL centers who want to play for Montreal don’t grow on trees. When one falls in your lap, you take it.

People comparing Drouin to Dubois are utterly ridiculous.
Not really both have red flags , Dubois is much better player than Drouin was no doubt. And we probably wont have to give up something as significant as our former 9th overall pick to get him. Comparing them is a bit of a stretch bacause Jay Dee was nothing special when we got him in my opinion but saying that comparing them is utterly ridiculous? Nah bro. Both are french and both are divas so theres some comparables to be made there no doubt.

DING DING DING.

This is why we need to keep 17th OA and look forward to 4-5 yrs from now.

PLD will still be in his prime in 4 years.

What are the chances our 17th OA will be as good of a player as PLD?

Often players take 5, 6, 7 years after their draft to hit their prime. PLD may fit the Suzuki Caufield Dach window to want to start winning better.

We have to take into consideration that a center makes his wingers better. It's not just the numbers of the center but the addition of wingers improved pts. For example, Dubois will improve wingers who were pairing with Dvorak, They will get better passes around the net and they will score easy garbage goals. Instead of having only one center (or two with Dach) to make produce wingers, we'll have more spots. Because I say it differently, young wingers won't developp much pairing with Dvorak or Evans or whatever last minute plug to fill like Thierny. They could just ending screwing up their developpement with Dvo-Ev.

Going Suzuki - Dubois - Dach would be so good for our young wingers like Caufield, Slaf, RHP, Heineman, Roy, Mesar, Farrell, etc... over the next few years.

If we re-sign Monahan, we could load up the top 2 lines with Dubois on the wing when Monahan is healthy. When he's not, we go back to Suzuki - Dach - Dubois down the middle.

I'll keep this short and sweet.

'Both are French and divas' is a really stupid way to go about comparing individuals in the world.

We aren’t bad enough to tank next year too. I don’t know how people don’t realize that.
Oh they're plenty bad enough. The Habs suck.

Marek confirms that PLD is interested in more teams than Montreal. Not a slam dunk

A lot of more discussion on PLD- Scroll to 6:54

Well wherever he ends up will probably be better than where he's been.

I highly doubt we will have three years in a row of record man games lost to injury. We have a young core only getting better. If Monty flops, we have Allen.

I’m not saying the team will be good, but they won’t be bottom 5.
I highly doubted we could have two years in a row of record man games lost. I don't know what we can attribute this to but I watch other teams have players take pucks to the face, skate blades to the face, knee-on-knees and get right back in, and our guys bump into each other in practice and are out 2 months. Don't know if it's the medical staff, the training staff, or if the management kept them out in the interests of tanking but something better change next year.

Marek - PLD has interest in playing for other teams than Montreal, but we all say/heard what transpired at the draft.

Friedman - I heard a team was willing to trade for PLD last year and take him on for 2 years, even if he wants to go to Montreal. - Also said teams are still looking at him as a 1 year rental

Friedman - If the Jets ask for Dach, if the deal was thar simple it would be done already.

Winnipeg is going to do the best deal they can for PLD.

It's also this type of thinking that lead Gainey to trade McDonagh for Gomez.
Nah that was different, Gomez was already declining and was way overpaid, it was a well known fact that the Rangers desperately wanted to get rid of him to sign Gaborik. I remember being floored that we gave up Higgins for him, that was before hearing McDonagh's name and at that point I just couldn't believe it. Dubois is not the same type of asset at all, and our GM is not that stupid.

PLD did not impress me much during this series vs Vegas. Of course, the rest of his team, too.
So I’m onboard the PLD train but agree with you. He gave no defensive effort on at least 3 of Vegas 4 goals last night. It was blatant and reminds me of that shift in Columbus where he hardly skated around.

That is frankly concerning and I’m starting to wonder if we can’t get him cheap that we just let him sign with another team for a year to see what he could actually do when motivated.

Cause if he puts in that type of “I don’t give a shit” effort in Montreal, our fans will make life for him intolerable

Columbus was toxic. Winnipeg was toxic. Maybe Dubois is part of the problem in these situations and it’s not a coincidence.
I mean Winnipeg was toxic way before PLD arrived

Before PLD ask a trade from CLB, Panarin, Brobovsky, Duchene all quit too

He only got 15 pts in his final 30 games
He was injured in those games though so I cam give a mulligan. He was solid all year before that injury
