It's all over for Jack Eichel

at the age of 17 at the world juniors.

Mcdavid 2g 5a 7 points in 5 games so far.

crosby 6g 3a 9 points in 6 games

18 year old Tavares 8g 7a 15 points in 6 games

mackinon.....nothing

cant say mcdavid has had a bad tournament.

Huh? What a ridiculous thread. Eichel looked better in most games except against Russia. The same night McDavid went off against a terrible Denmark team and this thread is the result. This might be the most typical HF thread ever.

McDavid is going 1st overall anyway unless something drastic happens. Even if Eichel put up Tavares WJC numbers, nothing would probably change.

even before their last games Mcdavid already had more points then Eichel despite playing a less important role on his time.

I would say both had moments thats displayed their talents but at times both had trouble.

Either way it was Mcdavid`s spot to lose and it clearly did not happend.

I just mentioned it at first don't use wjc's performance as measuring sticks.

Seth Jones was god at the 2013 world Juniors, he was far better then Drouin and Mickkinon, much better, wasn't even a question, I thought there was no way Seth Jones the beast is going lower then 1.

by summer he went 4th. The WJC shoulnd't be used as a measuring stick. I've seen numerous smallish highly skilled Canucks prospects dominate the tourny only to turn out into really nothing players, such as Cody Hodgson with 15 points Anton rodin 10 points in 6 games, he actually played better then Magnus Svenson that year,

anyways back on topic, Jack Eichel could have singly handidly won Team USA the gold Medal, and not go number 1. just like how Seth Jones played so well in 2013 and end up going number 4.

Jack Eichel I watched him play 2. and a half games I thought he looks damn good. Reminds me of Alex Ovechkin.

I think it's a lame thread, and even that Jack Eichel might go number 1 still. but yea, had nothing to do with WJC performance.

There many players that had a way better tourney than both of these guys, both are over rated, sick of TSN most for this.

Which undrafted players have had better tournaments?

You sound like you hate or are mad at hockey. May I suggest a relaxing game of darts?

I actually feel bad for you. So bitter over so little.

McDavid can go to oilers and he's immediately ruined. Oilers have that kind of special talent, just look at the roster.

Not being drafted as 1 will NOT ruin Eichels career, in fact he could get to a better team, score more points and have a better career. Heck you dont even have to be drafted and play amazing career.

Honestly, when has a NCAA player ever lived up to the hype? Has any ever won the scoring title, or named MVP in the NHL?

If the Oiler finish last they have a 20% chance to pick 1st, a 80% chance to pick 2nd.

Even from modern era, i can list
Dany Heatley as best rookie?
Duncan Keith the norris winner?
Ryan Kessler the Selke winner?
Martin St Louis the 2 times Art Ross?
Patrick Sharp also...

Et cetera

Kessler atleast counts if youre looking for USA citizen

Jonathan Toews?

Didn't realize he was an NCAA player. But since I haven't watched the NHL since 2007, I had to check his stats. Never won a scoring title, never won league MVP. If anything he probably over delivered on his hype, but then again he is Canadian and played midget hockey in Canada with 64 game schedules, so one could say the the NCAA managed to avoid ruining him...:D

This post is just :shakehead. MacKinnon was 17 when he played at the WJC and the coach pretty much benched him. MacKinnon =/= Point's situation this year. MacKinnon wasn't given the opportunity that any of those players were given.

Honestly, I'm not certain either of McEichel are "generational talents" as they're being described. I think they will be two of the top players of the game, I just don't see either of the being better than Crosby. For example, people talk about McDavid's hockey sense, but it doesn't even compare to Crosby. In fact, I'd argue that Sam Reinhart has superior hockey sense to McDavid. Of course, McDavid has much better tools than Reinhart to use that sense, but the point stands. I think they'll both be fabulous players and whoever picks them will be thrilled.

At this tournament, it's embarrassing.

To clarify, I think it is stupid in the NCAA as well. But, I would hope that is primarily a bunch of college kids booing another college kid. In relative obscurity.

This is primarily adults booing a child in front of a global audience.

Exactly. I'm not saying that Eichel's never been booed before, but (a) that doesn't mean it's OK and (b) this isn't a college hockey game where he's being booed by mostly other college students supporting the opposing team - this is an international tournament where he's being booed primarily by adults. It's - and I hate using this word here - classless.

So Eichel looks better than McDavid for the first 3 games of the tournament and then has ONE bad game and suddenly it's no contest? Some of you people are so short sighted it's not even funny.

They're both just as close as they were before the tournament started.

No it's more like McDavid started slow and got better every game.Takes time to shake rust off not playing for 6 wks unlike Eichel who fel lapart a little under pressure.
Both should be very good NHL players.I would still draft McDavid 1st easily.
