I dont think it was suspension worthy, but I do think it was a dirty, nasty play. Anyone insisting it wasnt is out to lunch.

I've been playing the game over 40 years and I'm fine with the hit. Dirty? There was no intent to injure. He didn't blindside a clean player from behind. It was a simple statement move to Upshall to say, enough already, **** off. If Upshall wasn't being a punk, he never gets his ass laid out like that. Plain and ****in simple. It's hockey, not knitting. **** happens. **** Upshall

Kreider has 2 more points than Barkov in 8 less games. He also has 1 point less than MacKinnon in 6 less games. Impressive no matter how you slice it.

If anything, people should be wildly encouraged by the assists. Up until this season, his points were 2-to-1 goals to assists. Remember the 2012 playoffs? It was his laser beam shot that was getting him his points. His recent playmaking has been a revelation.

The goals will definitely come.

EDIT: thrilled to see that the Upshall hit didn't phase him at all - he came out chippy again tonight.

If he somehow wins the Calder I'll laugh my ass off watching 85% of HFboards collectively **** their pants

If this play continues do you think Kreider has a chance at the Calder? He'd be the first one since 1940 I believe.

leetch won the calder too i believe. if he plays like this for 60 more games he will win the calder because it means he will probably end up with 70 points on the year. the production probably isnt sustainable but the play can be sustainable.

 It would be something I'd personally love to experience.

If he continues i wouldn't doubt it as long as he can fend off Jones and Hertl.

He's on a great pace right now and it doesn't look like he's going to revert back to the Kreider we starting getting on last season. He's developed well and since being called up he's been playing like the player we all hoped he would. Maybe even better. In my personal opinion he's consistently the most dangerous player for us right now.

Agreed - and the chemistry on that line, particularly between Kreider and MZA has been excellent. I sincerely hope that AV doesn't break them up when Nash returns.

Is the guy snakebitten or just a TERRIBLE finisher? I'm getting worried.
First of all we have like 62 games left so the goals will come. Secondly 10 pts in 11 games is not too bad. He isnt a terrible finisher he just has had some bad luck. he should have like 5-6 goals but he has had some unlucky bounces.

Kreider has basically become a NHL 1st liner (for the moment obviously) overnight. I'm not worried about his finishing at all. We've all seen first hand that he's a great finisher, the goals will come. He's a rookie, it takes time to learn the strengths/weaknesses of the league's goalies. Frankly, as a rookie currently putting up about a PPG, I don't really give a **** how he's getting points.

You know who's finishing I'm concerned about? Everyone else's.

10pts in 12 games and you're worried? Ok.

I'm worried because I want the guy to score on golden opportunities. Should be like 14 points in 12 games. I love his game, but we can't have 2 guys on the first line that can't score for ****. The guy that scored the most on that line has scored 4 goals and in only 2 games. Our entire first line combined has as many goals as Joel ****ing Ward.

Can't be nothing but impressed with the way Kreider has played this season. Sure I'd love to see him pot a few more goals but they'll eventually start to go in if he keeps playing and creating chances like he has.

Yes but if we're just gauging how impressive it is, it's a bit less impressive if you slice it this way.

Right, but if someone told you last year that Chris Kreider would be putting up those numbers close to Barkov and MacKinnon, or hell, even at all (10 in 11) this year, you wouldn't be impressed?

I wasn't expecting anything, I was almost annoyed that they called him up. Even so, he's the kind of player that brings excitement, even when he's sucking. Nothing like a super-fast power forward, from a fan's perspective.

I have no idea how he just turned it around like this. My feeling that he could revert back to his older self is gradually lifting, very gradually.

It really is pretty funny. Only a Rangers fan could worry about a player like Kreider with the way he is playing. He's made an impact in practically every single game he has been in.
