But how many of those winning lineups did did you go "f*** we didn't deserve to win that, we were dog shit."

And if you did how many times did it happen twice in a row?

I agree you shouldn't change a winning lineup, because it's a winning lineup but that's the ONLY it shouldn't, because the reality is they were dog shit in game 3, they were even worse in game 4, I didn't know that was possible but they were.

And they won.
I understand what you’re saying, but I believed in the lineup I put out there. There were games where we didn’t deserve to win, but as a coach, there was never any second guessing in putting out a lineup that found a way to win. We lost at times using the same lineup, but there were no regrets. If I had changed the lineup and we lost, I’d be thinking ”damn, maybe I shouldn’t have done that”.

This is what I'd like to see for next game.

Jarnkrok - Matthews - Nylander
Knies - Tavares - Marner
Bunting - O'Reilly - Acciari
Kerfoot - Kampf - Aston-Reese

Big wins/goals in the expansion era. Only ones bigger so far because they won a series:

- McDonald scoring game 7 OT against the upcoming dynasty Islanders

- Borechevsky OT game 7 against favoured Wings.

This comeback win is special though, to make it truly historic they must close out this series.

OTOH:

Foligno. Borschevsky. Gilmour. Anderson. Gill. Gartner. Zezel. Wood. Sundin. Gartner. Perreault. Berezin. Valk. Thomas. Sundin. Cross. Roberts. Kaberle. Green. Kapanen. Bozak. Matthews. Rielly. Kerfoot.

All of these were special and important in their own way. Any conversation about big goals by the Leafs during my lifetime has to always include these ones. I could never boil it down to just a couple.

(This was completely otoh, and meant to be in chronological order. Someone speak up if you think I missed one)

This is just unreal. I didn't see a single lightning sweater in the entire building for game two. Not one.

I don't want to hear that Tampa "deserved" to win game 4 or that they played better.

No team that blows a third period 3 goal lead can say it deserves to win. Hell, they even got outshot. Did the Leafs play like shit for 2 periods? Yes. Did the Leafs crumble under pressure? No, that was the other team.

Heck even the 2nd period was a lot more even despite them scoring 2 goals. Leafs at least got shots and puck possession. Period 1 was putrid and awful though.

Upon reflection a day later, you're right.
Not a very good first but were equal or better the rest of the way.

Have to think pretty much everyone thought it was over though after Stamkos scored and McCabe took the penalty to end the 2nd.

Hey guys, I posted maybe a month back in regards to Knies as I’m a Minnesota Gopher season ticket holder. I haven’t had time to watch each Leaf’s game I’m just wondering how Knies is doing overall for your team. Are you happy with him so far? I see he hasn’t been scoring but trust me that will happen sooner rather than later. He’s too talented for it not to.
He's been amazing. Hasn't scored yet, but has been getting and setting up chances. Also took a sure goal against off the goal line last game.

Can someone explain how I woke up with a big hangover while only drinking water and eating BBQ corn chips?
BBQ corn chips are very underrated.
Yeah I'm sure he had a real rough time walking through "lighting square" on the way out...
Maybe, but there have been way too many stories about people doing really stupid things that start with "Today, a Florida man......"

It's been a fun ride so far... up 3-1 is great, particularly given it's three wins in a row now. It will be interesting to see how Tampa comes out in game 5, after giving up two leads in a row the way they did. They've played a lot of hockey, so you wonder if they will be mentally fragile. We really need to come out hard in game 5, and put the boots to them early, and I think we will take away their fight. No question, they are a veteran team, that should be mentally strong, but it's been a battle, they've thrown everything they've got, had us on the ropes twice, and weren't good enough to hold it.

Like I've repeated many times... don't get too excited either way about the first seven games of the regular season, or game one of the playoffs, or a period or two in a particular game. Be patient, wait it out.... and in this case, every time so far this year, this team has come back and proven doubters wrong. We'd all wish they could dominate for the whole 60 minutes, and of course they need to be better to go all the way... but Tampa is a tough, physical, talented, experienced team... so credit them as a hard out... and we've won three in a row now.

Please, please just finish them off in five.

Theyre a good team yeah, everyone knows that. But they're beatable. So many people act like the Bruins already won the cup this year and no one will be able to challenge them.
Of course I agree with that. Toronto has looked to be their equal in the games they've played. If that keeps up then that series will be a toss-up. I'm just responding to the idea that they haven't won shit in 12 years. By that method of measuring, 25 teams haven't won shit in that time. Bruins have done pretty f***ing well for themselves.

And No bunting.

We are winning without him. And he’s a target for penalties.

Knies has been on for every important goal and saved a goal literally last game.

If Keefe puts bunting in he deserves to be fired

He deserves to be fired for putting in a 50-60 pt grinder for someone like Lafferty?

He already mentioned Knies won't be coming out - but I'd sure as hell take Bunting over Lafferty/ZAR

Pretty much. The bruins games have been like that this season and even in the playoffs, they played like shit but they pulled out a win. Was it pretty? No. But it was a win and that at the end counts.

Actually, from the end of the first period on, they outshot TB 32-19

I thought Kerfoot was gonna come out until that goal, now I assume ZAR.

Nylander-Matthews-Marner
Knies-ROR-Acciari
Bunting-Tavares-Jarnkrok
Kerfoot-Kampf-Lafferty

“you’re not going to beat the Lightning if ROR is your best player” was thrown out during the intermission and sort of rubbed me the wrong way last night. The Blues won the cup when he was their best player, so I don’t know if that’s technically true.
You’re not going to win the cup with the former Conne Smythe winner if he is your best player.
