Yeah i gotta say he's become pretty unbearable since moving to breakfast television. It's like he just says shit to get a reaction. He was always a goofball before, but he just seems like a weird stephen a smith type now and i don't know why anyone would try to take on that kind of persona.

I didn't even listen to more than 10 seconds of that clip before i turned it off.
He gotta little bit of fame with his faux outrage schtick and he just beat it into the ground. He’s insufferable.

Still riding the high, but I can't help but feel annoyed at Keefe for his decision to start the same lines in game 4 as he did game 3. He literally even called out that he had '3 lines that were underwater' in game 3 and yet he rolled out the exact same combinations thinking it would be different. And of course, we got dominated even harder.

I don't get him sometimes, when combinations are working that's when he decides to run the line blender and when combinations aren't working he'll stubbornly hold onto it. Guy really loves to galaxy brain.

The eye test tells a different story... he's been one of our best forwards the past 3 games. He is already our 3rd best winger and has played just 5 games in his career.
I love his compete level. He makes little mistakes here and there but that’s expected for kid playing in his 5-6th career NHL game. His positives far outweigh the little negatives so far. Really hoping he can turn into a physical power forward that can give you 30 goals down the line

Finish them next game. Play your best game of the series. Their goalie isn't playing all-world any longer. Their past 3 playoffs have taken a toll on them. I'm not even sure the Leafs has played a solid game this series.

It appears that Perry and Maroon may be hurting as their shifts were limited in the past game. Maroon had zero hits. You may say they're just 4th liners but they're both pains in the neck to play against. Tampa may become a mostly 3 line team for the balance of this series.

Yeah I am thoroughly pumped, but uncomfortable about ANYTHING until a 4th win is in the books. Please no more talk of any kind about the possible next round. We are up against the back to back to back finalists, and this series ain't over. GLG.

This is a typical leaf fan overreaction to a small sample size. Yes those stats do matter and are a good indication of what he will be in the future. Leaf fans should be thrilled if knies becomes a 30 goal 60 point guy.
You say it with such conviction.

You have as little a clue about the future as those you are chastizing.

It's called ego. He's been good, you made up your mind he wasn't and you are doubling down on that ego trip.

Again, why you should look at numbers and not just eye test. Krieder had almost identical numbers to knies and outside of one anomaly of a season he's been a 30 goal 50 point guy, that's what you should expect from knies. This is typical Toronto overreaction.

Show me examples of players who were just a ppg in college at the age of 20 who turned into star players, outside of tuch who had one good season this year.
So true. The mark of a hockey genius is being able to Google their point totals

The biggest difference from this team now , we have finally learned to just shoot the puck on net and get some greasy goals instead of always relying on our talent
I’m wondering if that’s coming from ROR ??
I’m pretty sure ..
Now we have added a different element in scoring

My biggest take on our PP

We really need to put Willy on his off wing and AM on the other side and steal the playbook from Dolts and other great Pp s
GLG
They didn't do this for the first two periods. I hope they don't stick to the perimeter in game 5 like they typically do. This team has a track record of not learning from previous mistakes. As soon as they got desperate they starter throwing traffic in front of the net. This will be the key to them winning the next game.

Seeing some analysts saying the Leafs won two games they didn’t “deserve.” First off a win is a win regardless, but it’s especially untrue with regards to last night’s victory. The Leafs dominated the Lightning in the third en route to that comeback.
Honestly, I'm more convinced the Leafs deserved a better fate in game one. They were right back in the game until Wes pulled some bullshit

This is why you should look at numbers and not just they eye test, it prevents you from having this kind of overreaction to a few good games.

One year, let's see if tuch can repeat what he did this year where he had a much higher shooting % than usual. Are there any other examples of players who turned into ppg players in the NHL who didn't have more impressive numbers than knies?
Sometimes playing down to your competition stunts your development and holds back your ceiling... Knies probably shouldn't have been back in college this season, but it was his choice. Now he comes into the playoffs (against Tampa no less), and plays up to the level of his competition and teammates. Sometimes you need to go to the next level to get to the next level and excel...

You can look at trends with numbers to get a good idea of the future, that's why analytics is a thing. It's not impossible that he'll be a star player but it's unlikely given the numbers he's put up.

When did I ever say he wasn't good?

I am really confused as to this whole "Stole this game" narrative. Were they outplayed for long stretches? Absolutely.

But at the end of the day.....

A) the Leafs outshot TB,
B) they outhit TB, and
C) they outscored TB.
Shots, hits and the score really don't tell the whole story of the game. My bowel movements/60 was the true story.

Between nerves and butter chicken, it was a roller coaster of emotions.

Lmao firstly I think its hilarious youre quoting that I'm specifically not using numbers when I'm the guy *always* quoting numbers. I straight up use my own formula for NHLe that adjusts for player age. Not to mention I'm the guy constantly combing through underlyings on obscure league websites, comparing past production, and subscribe to the guys that track the underlyings for the CHL/NCAA and NHLe models. I also have watched quite a bit of each of our prospects, and I especially take interest in guys like Knies and Niemela.

The issue here is you're over-reliant on the production numbers and you're breaking away from the context of the situation. His numbers have *always* been impressive going back to his D-1. Issues in his D0 with sickness & injury caused him to stagnate production-wise (which allowed us to scoop him up), and he "stagnated" again this year because he's playing with like 12 top-90 draft picks. He also played with a guy I consider to be a bit of a puck hog in Cooley. When you play with great players, everyone is going to get theirs. Not to mention they don't need to be over-reliant on one line like other teams in the NCAA are forced to be. Production also doesn't take into account things like how Knies was arguably the best transition player in the NCAA based on the tracking stats and how he also creates a ridiculous amount of HD chances; which has already started showing up at the pro level. Unlike a guy like Snuggerud, Knies production wasnt based on an absurd amount of secondary points either, which is a major red flag. Production is important at junior levels as its still the best tool we have at projecting pro success, but using it on it's own as a comparative tool is asinine. We might as well crown Grebyonkin a future star F with the numbers he put up in the KHL this year. No development is linear, and looking at past examples just limit your expectations, when the ability to project a player like Knies is limitless. He has all the skill in the world, an amazing shot, and still has some things I'd love (and I'm sure the would Leafs) for him to work on like his vision and passing. There's absolutely star potential there, but I've always maintained he's a physical version of JVR- a 30 goal, 60 point player, but you know if it clicks there's more.

It only makes sense if the suggestion was purely about being down by three goals with just about half a period left in regulation time. It seems generally improbable to end up with a favourable outcome during a playoff game under such a scenario. Perhaps they shouldn't have been down (yet they were) and they really shouldn't have been able to come back (yet they did!).

Actually, intelligent analytical people understand that you can find trends in numbers to get a good idea of what's likely to happen in the future.
Are there some patterns you can detect if you compare a player's point totals to historical scoring numbers in their league? Yeah, sure. But that's not even close to telling you the full story on prospects. Teams wouldn't spend all that money on scouting departments if they could just search up a player's point totals and know everything they need to know
