Have to admit I wasn’t sure about Samsonov before the series started but he’s been fine.

Tampa is 1-8 in playoff OTs since 2020.

The lone win came last year against the Leafs.
Heard that last night. What a crazy stat, never would have believed it.

We just reverse Leafed another team....the B2B2B SC finalists no less. I genuinely don't even know how to react in this moment still. I have this overwhelming Imposter Syndrome...this can't be true right??? Good things aren't supposed to happen to us. I DON'T GET IT!!!!

I have tried so damn hard to stay level this entire series, but my god you don't have a heart if you didn't get a bit over elevated last night.

The series is far from over, but I am proud of this group. What resolve they've shown already

GO LEAFS GO! GO LEAFS GO! GO LEAFS GO! GO LEAFS GO! GO LEAFS GO! GO LEAFS GO! GO LEAFS GO! GO LEAFS GO! GO LEAFS GO! GO LEAFS GO! GO LEAFS GO! GO LEAFS GO! GO LEAFS GO! GO LEAFS GO! GO LEAFS GO! GO LEAFS GO!

inserting Bunting only makes sense because Jarnkrok needs to come off the top line. You can place him on the 2nd or 4th line and scratch ZAR.

I don't think you put Bunting back in right now... But he gives us a lot more depth.

Bunting - Matthews - Nylander
Jarnkrok - Tavares - Marner
Knies - ROR - Acciari
Kerfoot - Kampf - Lafferty

The eye test tells a different story... he's been one of our best forwards the past 3 games. He is already our 3rd best winger and has played just 5 games in his career.
This is why you should look at numbers and not just they eye test, it prevents you from having this kind of overreaction to a few good games.

Better numbers than Tuch had in the same league at the same age and Tuch broke out as a star power forward this year
One year, let's see if tuch can repeat what he did this year where he had a much higher shooting % than usual. Are there any other examples of players who turned into ppg players in the NHL who didn't have more impressive numbers than knies?

Down 4-1 after 2 and winning 5-4 in OT could really be a turning point for this organization.

So this is what Boston felt like in the 2013 playoffs when they did it to Leafs in game #7

You really have to wonder how much impact vets and former Stanley Cup champs ROR and Schenn had in the room after the 2nd period and what they might have said,

In the past the core 4 and team simply didn't have that kind of push back or resolution in them. The trade deadline guys IMO seemed to have changed the thinking of the others by willing to fight through adversity. .

If the Leafs somehow close this out on Thursday with a good effort from start to finish, I'm goin into the match up against Boston confident that they can do it.
Before the playoffs started I thought they would make it to the ECF at the very least. If they play this way against Boston, I don’t think it will end well for them. Tampa is average at best and Vasi has been awful. Don’t think we can expect the same from Boston.

The last time the Leafs had a 3-1 series lead was against Montreal and they blew it, but that year they lost Tavares, so hopefully they stay healthy until Thursday to close this one.

Hagel is a moron. Cocky SOB who hasn’t won anything. “We didn’t change anything so I’m not surprised the score is 4-1. F U Hagel! Loser comment from a loser player
I can't stand Hagel, but his comments were totally fine in my opinion. He was spot on. We got massively outplayed in G3, so there realistically should have been no change from their perspective.

I will say, those comments were more fitting after the 1st then they were he 2nd IMO. Despite losing the 2nd period on the scoresheet, I actually thought we started to generate scoring chances and sustained O-zone time for the 1st time in 5 periods of play. You could see TB was actually starting to sit back a bit, and if not for a bit of a lucky Stamkos goal, I could have seen it tied up at one point in that frame. We started to break through in that 2nd, even if it did not initially show that way on the scoreboard.

So his comments were true in the sense of why should they change anything from G3 to G4, but the timing was odd given the fact that they started to slip in that 2nd IMO

The thing is we don’t really know how they’ll play or react because it’ll be brand new territory. All I can say is the pressure of the 1st round narrative will be gone. Maybe they feel loose and energized or they feel even tighter. I think they’ll end up playing a lot better since the first round monkey will be off their shoulder. It’s not over yet though. Gotta bury TB early and often on Thursday

True, I’m just as fired as Biz Nasty is LOL. I overreacted a bit. He’s still a prick though. Such a punchable face

The really good news in all this is that I have seen plenty of teams that go deep pull this sort of thing off in the first round. Sometimes it galvanizes a group. It's not pretty looking from an effort standpoint but, hey a win is a win is a win.

Would love to see a blowout to end the series and let them rest up.
The good think about it is, it’s just not one guy.
I’m not sure why every year people expect one guy (Matthews or a goalie to do it all)
JT with a hat trick game, O’Reilly tying it, Morgan winning in OT, Kerfoot with another.
It’s team effort and it takes a balanced team to win.

They can of course play better. But I think once they finally win a series they'll turn it up a notch when that weight is lifted.

Also, I'm not really that scared of Boston tbh (especially if this leafs team finally breaks through). I think the Leafs can go toe to toe with them. They have not looked all that impressive against the Panthers. They actually have a worse xgf% than the panthers (i know they been missing Bergeron/Kreji).

Kinda sick of seeing people talk about this Boston team like theyre some kind of Gods. They haven't won shit since Thomas was a god in the playoffs.

The issue is you don’t want Bunting out of the lineup too long. You’re going to need him at some point here. I just think it would be easier putting him in after a loss.. I don’t like the idea of mixing things up after we’ve won 3 in a row and not even playing near our best

Top six has to be some combination of

Jarnkrok/Knies Matthews/ROR Marner/Nylander

Leave JT on line 3 and Bunting out.
