I can see William Dufour in an Islanders uniform in the next two years....
He is just too good to be stationed in the AHL for a team in search of power forwards with a scoring touch.....that is who he is.

It's a wonderful thought, but we've all been fooled too many times by these kids having a big year or two in juniors.

His season is more than encouraging and YES, he's got those traits that are few and far apart in this Islander organization.

But it's best to see how he handles pro hockey at the minor league level and just how much of it he'll have to play before being an NHL option.

Interesting organizational contrast:

TBL just signed a kid I was hoping we'd use a late round pick on in each of the past two drafts.

They also signed Dman Declan Carlile out of Merrimack a few days ago. Really thought the Isles might be in on him.

I really hope Ishkakov gets an ELC, to much talent there to not give him a shot.

I'd actually be pretty shocked if they didn't.

What I've seen of him in an injury-plagued season with Mannheim and his healthy season before that in Finland tells me the Isles must see enough here to give him a couple of years in BPort.

That said, he is still very susceptible to hits and that, although he's been playing on bigger ice. The kid has some real skills, but just doesn't seem to have the feet to keep himself out of physical trouble.

Still, for a team that has yet to let anyone walk, I'd be very surprised to see a second rounder simply exit the organization without ever being signed for a good solid ELC look.

+ = on IR or just hurt

(?) - there are rumors Ben Mirageas was cut from Providence and may be retiring from hockey.

He's definitely in the same tier as Berg, Dufour, Durandeau, Holmstrom, and Raty for me.

Those are the main forward prospects that I think are either going to be NHLers are have legit chances to help this club.

The little bit I saw of Raty during preseason for the Isles, he really stood out as one of the best players on the ice. I'm looking forward to seeing him at camp with a year of growth, training, skating work and pro hockey under his belt.

Only reason why I'm high on the kid. Never been a prospect watcher since getting burned by the Dal Colle/Reinhart era but seeing him live and also on tv I was very impressed.

I just think we got very lucky given his draft season and I love it.

I agree, to me Raty can be that 2nd line center. Holmstrom, Dufour I think can be solid 3rd liners with Dufour maybe also being a power play specialist with his shot.

Eetu "Brutus" Liukas, from what I've been reading from some scouting people. He can be someone like a Cutter. Big strong guy who can hit.

I would say that, with Johnston and Bellows up front and Chara, Greene, and Aho on the blueline, there are currently more than enough bodies on the Island for the time being.

In light of Bridgeport's PO push, I think the Isles will keep the first call-ups - presumably Czarnik up front and Salo/Hutton/Witherspoon on the backside - on the farm until a playoff spot is determined, one way or the other.

Should the Isles head into the last ten games of the season mathematically eliminated while BPort appears to be on track for a secured PO spot (difficult), I believe we'll see a few kids get a look on the Island. When I say that, I mean a Holmstrom and Durandeau up front and a Hutton and Wotherspoon on the blueline. Some contractual decisions need to be made with respect to the latter two.

I can see William Dufour in an Islanders uniform in the next two years....
He is just too good to be stationed in the AHL for a team in search of power forwards with a scoring touch.....that is who he is.

Lets just hope he play with Bridgeport next year....I'm hoping he plays a full season down there and let's see come 2024 with the big club.

I know we don't have a great system but I am hopefully we have a few guys that can make the club in the next few years. Guys like
Raty - high hopes for him
Dufour - could he be the sleeper scorers we need?
Holmstrom - think he'll be a nice 3rd line winger once his get a little stronger
Salo- I hope, but I wasn't too impressed in the games I saw him.
Wilde - To me, he's my wild card on Defense for me. I think we can throw out this season for him oversee.
Witherspoon - Trotz when they brought him up recently (although he didn't play). When asked why he called him up instead of Salo, he said Witherspoon was playing real good and deserved the call up. Also on one of the podcast that review isles prospects, they mentioned him trending up.
Hutton - He'll be a 6th/7th Dman for us.
