It’s no different then the other helmet wearers like crypto who think they know everything about every other team.
As a fan of another team whose existence folks find annoyingly inconvenient, I hear you. :thumbu: Are they still trying to claim y'all are going to be relocated any day now, or did Belmont Park finally put an end to that nonsense?

I agree with you about the break down/build up part.

And Pelech right now is not the same guy. I don't know whether that's temporary, but there was absolutely no reason for him to let Kyrou to just blow right by him off a center ice face off last night, and it wasn't the first time. That was compounded later by a bad coverage decision by him. It's very difficult to know exactly why when nobody says anything about injuries, and I'm sure the Gallagher chicken wing didn't help. It went from 1-0 to 3-0 in 30 seconds, and a lot of it was because Pelech is off. It sucks, because I love the guy, but he's not right.
I'd be inclined to bet it's temporary, which is why I'd be willing to pay. But yeah, that'd be a concern. KJ is having a sophomore slump as well, though, so a deal involving him for Pelech could be spun as "one guy underperforming for another". ;)

Belmont should have put a rest to that one. I do hope that if there’s another Islanders-Rangers game outdoors, the Islanders hold out if they’re named as the home team unless the game is played on Long Island somewhere (Nassau or Suffolk county). The one in MetLife was just an Islanders home game by the benches and uniforms, nothing else.

Trading Pelech would be a major team ID change. It's extreme. tbh, idk why NYI fans are talking about this. Start with Nelson bc of the contract & move on from there to JGP, Palmieri, and eventually a Lee buy-out. Focus on athleticism & competency on the wings & bottom 6. If you've seen Clutterbuck trying to kill penalties these days, you know a lot of what's wrong with NYI.

Makes sense for y'all; I'm just interested because over here I badly want us to pick up a defensive mentor that has more skill than Gudbranson. Nelson would be a nice leadership shore-up but he's likely going to be in demand by playoff contenders too so we'd likely bow out of that quickly.

Cal did a great job of drawing a penalty at the same time of killing one last night.

Nelson for
Ryan Johansen + Avs 2024 1st + Oskar Olausson (2021 1st round pick) + Sam Malinski (offensively gifted RHD). Avs can add Miles Wood to this. He's been pretty good this year. NYI seem to love those hard skating big forwards on low AAV deals.

Hard no on Byram, Gulayaev or Ritchie. No interest at that pricing level.
Malinksi is waiver fodder dude.

Ryan Johansen would cost at least a 2nd to dump and OO is basically that 2nd. So the trade is Avs 1st + waiver fodder for Nelson?

That’s fine with me. Mayfield comes with a wonderful NTC along with his 7 year deal.
Let's take a step back. This team was built for a Trotz like defensive structure. Roy has introduced a "free for all go where you want" offense and none of the D have looked particularly good. Roy has the D following their guy above the net high and the forwards aren't falling back and taking the outside wing. Goal. Pelech was a no show last night vs Blues and Romanov is having recurring hip problems so his TOI was limited. Sorry but Pulock continues to fire his cannon into the next county well wide of the net. Mayfield who had a horrific game Sunday, was at least consistent last night. Not on the ice for a single goal and no stupid penalties. Plus playing the entire season on essentially a cracked ankle hasn't helped. Reilly can move the puck, yes, but struggles in the D zone.. The shakeup is coming. Time for Clutter, Martin and even Cizikas to move on or retire. Trade Pulock (or Pelech) and Mayfield and go after Chychrun. And Anders Lee shouldn't be protected...

Why do you believe that?
Both are puck movers who are more offensively gifted then defensively. Don't get me wrong Pulock would be our 2nd best D but for what he would cost in trade I think we could find a better fit for the top pair.

The Islanders are one of the teams with the least power play opportunities. Refs just refuse to call stuff unless it’s obvious for some teams.
I'm convinced the Refs just want to move the game along so they can hurry up and go clubbing in New York City. Jokes on them, with the NY Tie-landers making everything go to OT.

Yes, fans would lose their mind over Knies in a proposal, and will probably lose their mind over Cowan too. Niemela is only in his first year in NA though... so not really being held back any. He's having a first good year with the Marlies though, and is better defensively than I thought he'd be. In the end, you have to give to get anything back.
Isles and Toronto are not a match at all. To me it's not worth discussing.

Would you take either Ehlers or Pionk plus a good prospect not named Mcgroarty for Pulock?

Pulock has 6 years at $6.125 Million AVV

I’d do Pulock for Cowen + Minten + 2024 1st and Reaves for cap purposes.

’m still not sure if the cap would allow it.

Mayfield has hit a rut with the isles. He’s a battle Tested defensive defensman signed long term at a low cap hit.

I’d do a lesser trade for him. Mayfield for a 2nd round pick or a B prospect.
Jesus, I bet you would
