Only if Campbell can lacerate his spleen for the next 3 yrs.
I heard Leon is going to go out long term with male RBF and wait out the remainder of Campbell’s contract.
Reason for injury: being subjected to a terrible excuse for a skills competition

Well, that is certainly the truth...

But if a "fire sale" actually happened, this Leafs fan would be extremely interested in Pulock and Varlamov.

Pulock has 6 years at $6.125 Million AVV

I’d do Pulock for Cowen + Minten + 2024 1st and Reaves for cap purposes.

’m still not sure if the cap would allow it.

Mayfield has hit a rut with the isles. He’s a battle Tested defensive defensman signed long term at a low cap hit.

I’d do a lesser trade for him. Mayfield for a 2nd round pick or a B prospect.

It's pretty rare for fanbases to agree anyway.... LOL

For sure you'd get some contracts and bodies sent in this deal... probably Samsonov, Timmins... Samsonov is a UFA so not a big deal.. and Timmins has one year at $1.1 left.

As far as actual assets, I think it would probably be 1st, Cowan and Niemela. There would be a lot of fans mad at trading Cowan, and rightfully so... but it's worth it, in this case.
Not interested in a contract unless the deal ends in June honestly. As for actual assets, I’m interested in Niemela but would Leafs fans actually go for that? It seems like they’re more attached then the 23 year old girl who keeps running back to her crypto ex-bf.

Your fandom is officially taken away for wanting the more useless version of Matt Martin in return at a cap dump. You’re officially banished to being a Jets and Mets fan forever while driving a blue Prius covered in Mets stickers.

Oilers would be interested in guys like Pageau, Clutterbuck and Varlamov
Pageau has 2 years left at $5 million AAV. His offense the last 2 years has taken a hit but he’s still great defensively and on faceoffs. Clutterbuck is a hitting machine still and great defensive winger. He’s a UFA after this year. I’d

Pageau and Clutterbuck for Beau Akey + late pick

I mean... it doesn't really matter what fans would go for does it? If we would have Pulock until 29/30, plus Liljegren and McCabe playing RD... there isn't room for Niemela anytime soon. Niemela's been a good story in development... but we need a guy like Pulock far more.

If I’m correct to bury him only costs $200k and the cap has to work somehow. It’s not unreasonable. Not trading for him to play him. It gives the leafs some incentive.

He should just do the opposite of Barzal next year. Cry himself OUT of the competition. By crying I mean knee pads/Gary

I think Clutterbuck would be a great addition for the Oilers. He is still a decent 4th liner, decent PKer, and a great agitator. Will draw a couple of penalties in the playoffs.

Isles need a major retool. Dead last in prospects/ farm system and the core vets aren’t getting it done.

no one is untouchable but Players isles should keep to re-tool around are Barzal Horvat Holmstrom Dobson Romanov and Sorokin.

3 biggest trade chips as far as value would be Nelson Pelech and Pulock. Highly motivated to get rid of Mayfield and Engvall who both have 6 more years left on their deals smh.
Lee Palmieri and Pageau would all be available for me.

Mike Reilly was a waiver pick up so I don’t think he could be traded but I’d look to
re-sign him and extend him for next year.

Isles need players that can play for Roy and the style he’s looking for.

There’s the situation, offer away!

Oilers have no cap space next year so it wouldn't be easy to fit in Pageau. Retain on Pageau and turn the late pick into a high pick or multiple picks

I think if you waived Timmins, he'd get claimed by someone anyway. He's got the potential to be a 30 point D man, with ok size... it's staying healthy that's his problem. The results for the team when he's been on the ice, have been quite good this year.. 3.8GF/60 and 2.1GA/60 I'm not trying to hype him up, but he's a guy I actually like, but doesn't really have a spot with the Leafs.

I don’t think moving Pageau makes sense right now. Once he’s in his last year of his contract he should be able to net a decent return.

Overreacting? Look at the list I’m trying to keep vs what he listed: I’m trying to move on from guys like Pageau, Palmieri, Engvall and Mayfield if possible to rotate the roster. Outside of getting an overpayment in return for Nelson, he’s not worth moving. Even Varlamov isn’t worth moving without an overpayment, he’s still better then atleast half the league.

I like Pulock but not that that price. If your goal is retool instead of rebuild, Leafs could include Liljegren (young top 4 RHD, likely nearing his ceiling)to replace Pulock to a lesser extent. Leafs obviously add to make up the difference and make it worth Isles’ while.

Fans would lose their mind if the ask was Knies over a guy like Cowan or Niemela though. Niemela is reminding me of the Sandin/Liljegren saga where they never could get time due to studs like Justin Holl getting playing time.

Yes, fans would lose their mind over Knies in a proposal, and will probably lose their mind over Cowan too. Niemela is only in his first year in NA though... so not really being held back any. He's having a first good year with the Marlies though, and is better defensively than I thought he'd be. In the end, you have to give to get anything back.

This is true. If I’m Lou, I’m targeting high ceiling, NHL-ready prospects in return along with picks for some major pieces. To get a return like Chicago did from the Rags for Kane would just be insulting yet people think that’s what it’ll take to get someone like Pulock.

Any interest in a comparable to the Ekholm deal for Pulock?

That was a 1st, a former 1st prospect, and a warm body to fill the spot he left (Tyson Barrie), so the equivalent would be Edmonton's 1st, basically any prospect in our system of your choosing, and Cody Ceci.

Close? He might not be the right "style" of player, but it's interesting to discuss his value.

Can Pelech play right side? I'd pay more for him than Pulock obviously, but we need a right side guy.

Or maybe we just keep it more simple and take a chance on Mayfield instead, what would the cost be there?

Yeah, not gonna work. Who’s the former first? Cody Ceci however is not of interest, too much term and too much AAV.
