I'm ready to move on from anyone on this roster not named Barzal, Sorokin, and Dobson. Anyone else can be had. Please, send me your 7th round picks for the corpse of Matt Martin. Don't all come at once now.

What would offers for players like Pelech, Pulock, Nelson look like?
cant rebuild by trading away only your mid-lower players. To really rebuild, you are gonna have to deal away one or more of your "untouchables"...thats the only way to recoup some higher talent/picks. It would certainly hurt for you guys to deal Barzal, Sorokin, or Dobson....but by the time you finish the rebuild and are competitive again, they may be 5 or more years older.

Tear it down....no one should be untouchable.

Yeah, not gonna work. Who’s the former first? Cody Ceci however is not of interest, too much term and too much AAV.
Fair enough. Pulock probably doesn't play the right style for the spot we need anyway. We need more of a stabalizing player to play on the shutdown pair with Nurse, so maybe Mayfield would be a better target.

I'd do the 2nd for Mayfield that someone else had posted as the price earlier, assuming that we find a taker for Ceci, which won't be hard over the summer, but could be difficult now as the teams that could use him next year are looking to unload players for assets, not bring in new players. I don't know if Mayfield is really an upgrade on Ceci, but he is someone different, and while Ceci looks fine in the regular season, last post-season he couldn't contain some of the guys we needed him to, so trying Mayfield in that role instead would be a good gamble in my opinion.

That’s fine with me. Mayfield comes with a wonderful NTC along with his 7 year deal.

I don't really care about the NTC, as long as he would waive it to play in Edmonton, ha ha.
Just promise him that the refs won’t call everything he does as a penalty and I’m sure he’ll be fine with it. I’m convinced that after the Kucherov debacle in the playoffs a few years ago, the league just went out of their way to target everything he does. There’s been times he’s gotten a penalty and you just think to yourself, how is that even possible.

No. NYI would be lucky to get as good as Sorokin, Barzal, and Dobson by tearing it down & drafting from scratch.

NYI's downfall this year has been role players and PK'ers. They should deal Nelson (not because he's bad but because his contract is valuable *now*), and try to move on from some bad contracts in the next 2 years (JGP, Lee, Palmieri) while adding more athleticism throughout the lineup, getting a few extra futures, and not dealing any picks of their own.

That McJ guy thinking he can shed Johansen's contract for free is funny.

That's weird. Yet not surprising from the NHL. Evander Kane gets no benefit of the doubt from the referees either.

Lol oh yeah? Id love to see a quality argument to suggest there is a big difference here. Chychrun is also 4 years younger.
It’s also a downgrade massively for the Islanders. He’s not going to play over Pelech or Romanov so it’s back to where he was with Ottawa. Sulking over not getting his top 4 minutes and then he walks so essentially the Islanders traded Pulock for nothing.

Then you have guys who can run around trucking guys high with no repercussions. The Islanders are one of the teams with the least power play opportunities. Refs just refuse to call stuff unless it’s obvious for some teams.

We want a fire sale but overvalue all our players massively. There is a serious lack of talent on this Islanders team Chychrun improves that tremendously.

One is locked up long term and is a RD. The other is a year away from UFA and Chychrun will have a higher AAV. If the isles are moving Pulock it’s likely for picks/prospects. As of now I’d much rather hold onto Pulock.

In what world are Pulock, Pelech, and Nelson “mid-lower players”. What a horrible take.

None of this is accurate. Well done. When's the fictional book come out?

Not better than Romanov HAHA.

Considering you guys think Romanov is a bottom pairing defenseman it’s utter comical. Chycrun wants his top 4 minutes and his game slumps when he doesn’t get it. He’s not better than either Romanov or Pelech. Good try though.

:eyeroll: I swear to G-d folks copypasta this bullshit this every time they see a "anybody but these guys" post regardless of who else is made available. Do you have any idea who Pelech and Pulock are and what they're capable of? I assume not, since 1) you posted this and 2) they've gone largely unnoticed for, like, the entirety of their careers.

"Not playing over" != "better than". Deployment circumstances matter. This is the same fallacy behind claims that Leon Draisaitl is a #2C.

Don’t waste your time, he’s a Rangers fan who’s convinced the Islanders just need to tear it down and trade everyone and then fold when the team struggles Arizona style.

Ah. Rivalry motivated reasoning. Should've thought of that possibility.

It’s no different then the other helmet wearers like crypto who think they know everything about every other team.

Not interested in a contract unless the deal ends in June honestly. As for actual assets, I’m interested in Niemela but would Leafs fans actually go for that? It seems like they’re more attached then the 23 year old girl who keeps running back to her crypto ex-bf.

Your fandom is officially taken away for wanting the more useless version of Matt Martin in return at a cap dump. You’re officially banished to being a Jets and Mets fan forever while driving a blue Prius covered in Mets stickers.
You can't sentence someone to that. I think that was outlawed by the Geneva Convention.

I agree with you about the break down/build up part.

And Pelech right now is not the same guy. I don't know whether that's temporary, but there was absolutely no reason for him to let Kyrou to just blow right by him off a center ice face off last night, and it wasn't the first time. That was compounded later by a bad coverage decision by him. It's very difficult to know exactly why when nobody says anything about injuries, and I'm sure the Gallagher chicken wing didn't help. It went from 1-0 to 3-0 in 30 seconds, and a lot of it was because Pelech is off. It sucks, because I love the guy, but he's not right.
