Was just thinking of another approach on Grubauer if he is the target. Orpik is very overpaid but has only one year left at $5.5 million. What if we offer to swap Orpik and Clutterbuck (at a million retained) as the price for getting Grubauer for a 2nd and Mayfield?

Grubauer
Orpik

for

Clutterbuck ($1 million retained)
Mayfield

Big fan of capitalizing on Orpik.

He isn’t worth his pay, he’s slow and they need to move him to keep others.

On our team we have room and specific need. Our PK sucks and he’s still good for the penalty kill and the leadership will go far.

Him and Boychuk on separate lines with guys like Leddy and Pulock we have a nice balance and we’re tough to play against.

Quick questions here:
Do Nelson mostly play center or winger?
Do you think he'll resign or is he moving?

He's an RFA, not a UFA. He should play wing ONLY, he's not a fit for center. What team are you hoping to acquire him to?

Unless you're very desperate, he's definitely a winger. And he looks like he could use a change of scenery, tbh.

With JT (if resign), Barzal and Cizikas at center, i'm wondering what they will do with him... Can't see him 4C if JT stay so could they use him at W or maybe trade him? I like this player and it will be intersting to see what happen

How long have you been following the team? This is your 34th message and there's been approximately 459,768 previous comments about this . . .

He's a trade chip in my opinion if he wants more than $2,500,000 a year and even then I want him to be a trade chip.

Not being pessimistic, but didn't John Shannon just have this morning Trotz isn't coming here?

Also Peter Chiarelli is clueless

Well I wouldn't be surprised if that Shannon Tweet from earlier wasn't specifically from Trotz's camp in last minute negotiations with the Isles to get a bit more out of the contract.

Even though his behavior is erratic (and I absolutely blame that on the brain damage he likely suffered) I commend him for speaking up on this subject. The league absolutely doesn't care one bit about player safety, and sadly neither does the NHLPA for that matter. They need to be made to care.

I think the responsibility is mostly on the players. Many of us have played hockey our whole lives, all of us are aware that brain injuries can happen and impact you later in life. The only issue I have is when the professional sports teams lie to their players about what type of impact it can have or that they lie about the severity of their current injuries. I'm personally fine with allow players to do pretty much whatever they want concerning their injuries, meaning if they want to play while injured I don't have a problem with that. Doctors shouldn't be lying about those injuries to get them to play though.

He mostly plays center for the Islanders, while most of the fans prefer him to play on the wing. He doesn't have the tenacity or 200 foot game to play center. His best asset is his wrist shot, which is better utilized when he's playing the wing.

I’d imagine one if not both 1sts will be dealt tomorrow. Nelson, Czikas, probably any of our defenseman will be in play also I would think.

I think anyone not named Tavares and Barzal are in play.

Obviously there are guys that are highly unlikely to be moved for whatever reason, but Lou can get creative if he wants to.

I wouldn’t look at it that way.

We have four picks in the top two rounds, plus other assets that can be put on the table.
Besides Karlsson what top four is available though? I read Subban but it worries me he could be traded again although he is childhood buddies with JT so maybe isles are good fit. I’d make play for Karlsson using both 1sts Nelson and any of the young D not named Pulock.
