Calgary might need a trade partner...

I would be more than willing to take the gamble that Sam Bennett needs a change of scenery. At worst, he is still a better 3C option than Nelson.

MDC (who might also need a change and is on the final year of his ELC) and the Isles 2018 third rounder for Bennett.

The Isles get some badly-needed center depth while the Flames save probably $1.75 million, can see if MDC can stick for cheap and they recoup a pick in the third round (they don't have a pick until the fourth right now).

Flames will be able to do a lot better than MDC and a 3rd for Bennett

I think there is concern that Fox will stay in College and then pull a Justin Schultz.
Correct, and if we still had Snow/Weight I'd be more worried about that, but with Lou (and potentially Trotz or whoever the coach is) I think it's a safer bet that he signs.

I would be willing to go a little higher but Bennett has been trending down since his rookie year, is an RFA and will probably get a bridge contract, perhaps $2.5 million over two years, on a team strapped for cash with some big contracts. If they can do a lot better, then they are probably trading with Ottawa, Edmonton or Montreal.

Flames fans were talking Adam Fox for JHS, I'd rather go that rout than Bennett

I would absolutely do that, assuming they plan on signing Eberle.

Ho-Sang on the third line would be great, but would be luxury. There’s no future top four RHD in the system besides Pulock.

I like the idea of trying to get Bennett, however I think I read that he's played his best at LW and hasn't really done great at C. So the idea of him as 3rd line C might not fly.

Not that he was in our future plans but this definitely paves the way for Soderstrom I’m Bridgeport

I remember that kid was once supposed to at least be a solid NHLer. Maybe he ends up like Mikko, plays for a bit over there, builds up his confidence and comes back over.

Gudlevskis never seemed to find consistency in his game. He coyldn’t stay hot for long periods of time. To me he just seemed like an awkwardly tall goaltender who didn’t play his position all that well. Godspeed Kristers.
