I once heard her say
“I know Mason has allowed 6 goals tonight but I think he’s looked pretty good.”
I’m not lying. It was either her or another female commentator on a Calgary broadcast I think. It was awful.

There are *many* commentators who are more knowledgeable than an 8-time gold medal winning player who's on the selection committee for the Hockey Hall of Fame?

You can criticize her as a broadcaster, her phrasing, her tone, but criticizing her knowledge of the game is ridiculous.
you can be a great athlete and not be knowledgable about the game. Byfuleign is a force on the ice and had no idea who joe sakic or mike Modano were apparently according to some of his teammates on the spittin chiclets podcast. And as far as being on a "selection committee" thats basically another name for "the old boys club" where they help friends keep jobs stay relevant in the hockey world. Remember when a "selection committee" didn't rank Malkin in the NHL's top 100 not that long ago? I do.

If you seriously want to question her intelligence and knowledge of the game, feel free, but it's a ridiculous stance to take.

Jack Edwards is hilarious but an absolute unapologetic homer.

I can't stand to listen to Rick Jeanneret.

If I’m being honest the only announcer to really annoy me and cause me to mute the tv or find a different station is Pierre McGuire.

A lot times announcers are criticized for small things that gets over blown and people act they ruin their evening or something lol.

I have no extra issue with her. I get irked by almost all commentators.

To answer the title question, I think objectively there are several. Drew Remenda, Dave Mishkin, Jack Edwards, etc.

Eh I prefer Kelly Hrudey but I don’t mind her as much as other people do.

Man did Edmonton ever disown him lmfao.

Anyway, I’d take her over edmonton’s crew with remada and the bald guy... I wince every time I hear his ot calls...

Connor Mcdavid OVERTIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII....ME WINNER!

A bigger point, you can be extremely knowledgable about the game but completely unable to expound on it, it is just intrinsic when you play it.

Also, Greg Millen is worse.

Ok well explain why she butchers her commentary non-stop. She states player fact that are not true enough for the average listener to catch on, gets players names wrong at a noticeable rate (Not as bad as Don Cherry but still sounds like she didn't read the game notes/roster beforehand). Just off the top of my head her intermission commentary in the Oiler/flames game where she stated the flames had the advantage after the goalie fight because Rittich would be ready to play and Koskinen wouldn't be and even Kelly Hrudey turned to her and said something along the lines of why would a guy who just got lit up for 4 goals and pulled minutes ago be more ready to play than any other backup at that time, he is clearly off tonight. Or the amount of times she's screwed up Nugent-Hopkins and Draisaitl, who aside from having a 9 on their jerseys look nothing alike on the ice. People have their warts but she sounds like she comes in cold each game and wings it. Compare that to a guy like Pierre McGuire who people complain about for other reasons but theres no doubt he's at least done his homework on the players and has the slightest clue who he is talking about in each game. Now if she does know what shes talking about she really doesn't show it, which is really her only job when commentating or being on a panel.

Every game she announces it is mistake after mistake and fumbling over simple sentences. I know she did alot for womens hockey but enough is enough, she is painful to listen to.

I honestly don't know a single person who can stand listening to her so why is she still on?
All of SN is awful. Even Jim Hughson is nowhere near what he once was. I just listen to away broadcasts unless I have no choice and it's an all Canadian match up. Plus, it's always more interesting to get the take of opposing announcers.

I really wanted to like her, but she managed to put me off. The fact that her bias seems ratcheted to 11 makes it hard to stomach the errors along the way, just becomes a grating experience.

I'd rather listen to Cassie Campbell than Kevin Sawyer for the Jets. He's got to be one of the worst, as a pure homer. It's nice to have an analysis of the game, not just effusive praise for your players.

Thank you for posting this! I can't stand her! They also have that blonde player on some games at the desk, her name escapes me, but she's equally as unqualified. There is probably dozens of women who could do better given the opportunity in those roles, but ya, these 2 are both unbearable to listen to.

She's improved but still has a long wayto go and yes she can be biased. She is fairly New to this so I think giving her some leeway can be afforded while she sharpens up. Don Cherry was around for a long time and barely could properly announce players names let alone make a viable argument. I really like SN Oilers play be play guy Quinn and Louis Debrusk.

To be fair hrudey has had said the same statements

Millen sounds like a fan just discussing his favorite players to his friends while having wings and beer. Rarely does he give "insight" that makes you go, "this guy knows his stuff". Usually it's just "and that's why he gets paid the big bucks" or "and that's why he's elite" after the guy scores.
