There's not a lot of great work being done at Sportsnet in general, imo. Vancouver's PBP guy is good. DeBrusk and Simpson are alright on colour.

There is absolutely no one as bad as Campbell doing cc. She's not bad as a panel analyst, but she needs to quit calling games. As an Oilers fan, I usually have to mute the BoA and those are some of the best games of the year. I really feel for flames fans though.

Millen sounds like a fan just discussing his favorite players to his friends while having wings and beer. Rarely does he give "insight" that makes you go, "this guy knows his stuff". Usually it's just "and that's why he gets paid the big bucks" or "and that's why he's elite" after the guy scores.
He also messes up simplistic things all the time.

The Leafs get 3 crews primarily. Miller/Cuthbert-Ferraro, Hughson-Simpson, and previously Romanuk/Miller and now Bartlett/Millen. The games are split close to evenly. Ferraro is on another level. He provides insight, is funny, has great stories and picks things up. The gap between he and Simpson is massive. Simpson is decent, he doesn't often mess things up, but isn't interesting and I find that broadcast is overly professional. Its not bad, but its not good (and the standard for HNIC's A-Team should be higher). Romanuk-Miller and now Bartlett-Millen reminds me of OHL interns at times, and Millen is the constant. I can't remember the last time he said anything interesting. I can atleast remember Romanuk recommending an interesting book (even if he did talk overplay too much). Millen has the enthusiasm, accuracy, and insights of someone battling crippling insomnia.

Remenda has referred to the Oilers as "the Shar--Oilers" multiple times over the years.

Meanwhile Kevin Quinn has referred to a lot of players as... words that he accidentally made up by combining parts of names together.

I also remember Cassie saying the flames had the goaltending advantage when Smith and Talbot got kicked out for fighting because Rittich was already warmed up (and pulled after giving up 4 goals). Oilers proceed to score two more goals on Rittich.

Speaking of talking over play, at least you manage to avoid Garry Galley, the colour commentator who never shuts the f*** up.

We get the occasional another broadcast team. And, I watch other games. Gally is bad, but whatever team Millen is on, is always astonishingly bad.

I thought she was pretty good last season, but she's really gotten on my nerves this season and I don't know why

the biggest push to go to live games is so that I don’t have to listen to Greg Millen. He’s always been bad, but he’s been getting worse and worse this season. He doesn’t shut up and it’s constant drivel.

I never followed women's hockey super closely, but she was always one of my favorite players. Solid defense (wo)man.

As a commentator she's tedious and insufferable.

One hilarious example I recall was the playoffs last year when Colorado decimated the Flames. It was a game in Colorado and the crowd was electric. Cassie Campbell-Pascal said: "The crowd is going absolutely wild, and one thing's for sure. There are a bunch of Flames fans here too".
It was brainless pandering. If Flames fans were there, they didn't even have a reason to be loud at that point. There were barely any red jerseys in the crowd, and it was just tone deaf and stupid.

I thought she was fired until I saw her as part of the panel for hockey day in Canada. It's been a while since I seen her before that and haven't seen her since that I can remember. Does she only do the late games on Saturday, or work for a different company now ?

I often wish for a no commentators option on NHL.tv. Game and arena sounds only.

A persons voice is *the* most important part of being a broadcaster. I suppose if you're a hockey insider like Bob Mackenzie its not as important but people still have to enjoy watching and listening to you.

I don't really care about her knowledge of the game or even being able to keep up with the play, both of which are adequate enough to do the job. Her voice is dull, timid and boring. It does not add to the atmosphere of watching a hockey game.

I'm sure there are plenty of women available who have better voices and on air presence. Just because she was a great player doesn't mean that she's a great commentator.
