There's a lady on Sweden telly, and I don't even (or even want!) to know her name; That, THAT voice from Skellefteå-trakten up North, Sweden, make suicide on your ears boys. Believe me.
And we have even to pay (and that plenty!) for her ... knowlegde.

She makes so many mistakes and makes a lot of dumb comments. it’s pretty awful.
Eh, I guess I tune out the commentary for the most part since I could give a shit about the Flames. I'd still cut the PBP before the colour on Flames broadcasts, even though I recognize I may be alone on that.

She's from an entirely different county 133 km away from Skellefteå. Typical southern Swedish ignorance.

trending on twitter tonight, has she really been that bad?
After watching that game last night, it's crazy disingenuous to single out Campbell. Most of the broadcast team was abysmal. None of the analysts had any on-screen personality. They all know the game well enough (Campbell, Stajan, Nurse, Versteeg), but they seemed so uncomfortable and wooden on camera. That's not on them - Sportsnet assembled a team of amateurs without veteran support. It's not an environment that will allow any of them to actually improve. And then you throw in a clown like Eric Francis, and you now how the league looking like a low-rent joke.

The NHL should actually step in and enforce minimum standards of competence in broadcasting, because Rogers surely isn't.

Yeah I was watching that broadcast and it almost had an AHL feel to it.

I think I lasted 10 minutes before I turned the station, her monotone voice is enough for me to bail out without going into everything else. Everyone can see that she is ill-suited for the job, can they not replace her, there must be thousands of women out there who could blow her out of the water if given a chance.

My 2 cents. I am a Calgary fan and we get terrible colour commentators except for Kelly Hrudy.
Cassie is definitely the worse.
Her Monotone voice.
No NHL experience.
Not relatable.
She was only hired for her looks and what’s she’s done in Woman’s hockey. Tell us Cassie what happens in a Men’s locker room and what they are thinking?
She should be named Captain Obvious as her only analyst is just pointing out the obvious.
There are lots of excellent women commentators, just look at the NBA and NFL, she is just terrible.

When she is on I listen to the radio broadcast but Peter lobardis is almost as bad as Cassie. Both have never played in the NHL and shouldn’t be allowed to comment on that level.

Please read this Sportsnet.

Your first post...not off to a great start. Playing in the NHL is not a prerequisite for doing play by play like Peter does ...that much should be very obvious as almost no former pros do play by play. Does it help to have played in the league to do color? Sure, but not necessary. Knowledge, ability to analyze what is happening in front of you and delivery all matter.

Cassie Campbell is definitely not very good at this job... on that we will agree.

Sportsnet has always had pretty abysmal broadcasters almost across the board, even before they shelled out for their current broadcasting deal.

Can count the people I've thought were good on one hand. Canucks PBP guy is alright. Oilers had Ferraro doing colour for a while before he jumped to TSN. Louie DeBrusk is also decent. That might be it off the top of my head.

When Cassie isn’t being “Captain Obvious” she can bring good insight. She often brings up the “little plays” along with a clip or two of hard work that happens before a big goal.
She is not great but definitely not the worst.. I’ve watched Bruins games.. Jack Edwards is a f***ing tool and has some of worst opinions on the planet. Needs to stick to calling the play only

I know her from watching SHL and that I understand some Swedish because of my wife and her family being Swedish speaking Finns I find her quite ok, actually.

Cassie Campbell though is dreadful. I have to put the NHL recap of Calgary games on mute just to avoid her monotonous voice and cack insight.

Craig Forrest is good for soccer.

Both Cassie and Peter do colour commentating not PBP.

I read this post last night and agree a lot with it.

First off you are bang on right about Stajan, Nurse and Versteeg. There are others as well that just seem so freaking nervous. I guess the hope from Sportsnet is they find another Bieksa. He was god awful when he started as well.

But I do disagree that it's disingenuous to single out Campbell. She has been doing this for a lot longer than the rest and she hasn't really gotten any better. But like paying a NHL player to a stupid contract, Sportsnet is to blame for keeping her around.

I also have to ask is it any cheaper for them to get ex-NHLers like Stajan that made 30mil in his career over keeping someone around like say a John Shannon who doesn't look nervous as f*** and brings something to an intermission?

I was also really watching as we had Shawn Belle yesterday. He wasn't half bad to be honest, so that's good.

With her it’s not even about the mistakes and more about the tone of her voice which makes her awful.

then its the mistakes afterward she treats everything so serious and acts nervous 24/7 it’s actually distracting.

Also her being married to the assistant flames GM
Like the guy said above hurts with obvious bias. But colour guys are usually biased, John Garrett for the Canucks is easily the most biased colour guy (I know the bruins PBP guy is but I mean colour guy) and the oilers guy remenda? I think is up there too when it comes to that so all
Three kind of suck.

Drew Remenda was notoriously not an Oilers homer to an extreme degree. I liked him as I thought he was a good analyst who really broke the game down well (former coach) but he was generally HATED in Oil Country. He was a Sharks coach then commentator and came to Edmonton with Todd McLellan.

Short answer no, long answer no.

She fills this precious quota that they are so desperate to fill. Making it highly unlikely that she gets fired for any reason. So, therefore, she has little incentive to make an effort to improve.
This is it. The looking away from the camera and reading her points because she cant remember them looks so unprofessional when no one else is doing it.

Man did Edmonton ever disown him lmfao.

Anyway, I’d take her over edmonton’s crew with remada and the bald guy... I wince every time I hear his ot calls...

Connor Mcdavid OVERTIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII....ME WINNER!

Remenda was the bald guy and Kevin Quinn was the OVERTIIIIIIIME WINNER guy. Kevin Quinn was awesome.
