Doc is not a colour commentator, he's the play-by-play guy. Lots of them that have never played, which is fine since their job isn't to provide analysis.

Almost all commentators have NHL experience, as they should, as their job is to analyze the play and break it down between whistles.

Cassie is more than qualified to be a colour commentator for women's hockey games, but she's never played in the NHL and her voice isn't ideal, so it's not shocking she gets some hate.

Now apparently we are now so spoiled we have the time and the inclination to complain about a color commentator.

Frankly, Cassie Campbell is so far down on the list of my hockey issues that her name is almost invisible.

Appreciate what you have and stop complaining about what you don't.

Person I responded to specifically said "broadcaster". If you want to limit it to color commentators, that's fine, and you're correct that there are few color commentators (so far) who have not played professional hockey.

She's horrible. She'll stumble on multiple sentences in a row and than later on stumble on one mid sentence and than abandon whatever the f*** she was talking about which leaves the listener wondering what f***ing point she was trying to get across.

Cassie Campbell should not be doing color commentary or analyzing. The sports net deal has absolutely killed any growth the NHL could have hoped to achieve. I loved watching Anthony Stewart tell Connor mcdavid he shouldn’t drive the net and should have went behind it. The overall talent there is god awful. Outside of the game itself it’s brutal tv, from the announcing to the intermissions post/pre game etc.

There are *many* commentators who are more knowledgeable than an 8-time gold medal winning player who's on the selection committee for the Hockey Hall of Fame?

You can criticize her as a broadcaster, her phrasing, her tone, but criticizing her knowledge of the game is ridiculous.

You think she is knowledgeable cause she played women hockey on international tournaments where there was only two competitive teams? That is hilarious.

But as far as her work, I actually think she's not that bad if uncomfortable in her execution on TV. I have seen worse, though.

You cant deny she knows her Hockey. Doesnt mean she is the best at broadcasting but she understands the game.

I have noticed her stop midsentence before as well and wondered what on earth was she thinking.
