This gives me flashbacks to when Chiarelli and McLellan were the "hottest" free agents at their given positions in 2015. *shudders*
I don’t know why they were so highly touted, Chiarelli inherited a great team and Thomas carried him to the cup, and McLellan couldn’t do shit with a stacked Sharks roster.

They're both stubborn as ****, that's for sure. Eakins had the more punchable face.

That's the key thing. The best coaches have game plans to adapt. But with Todd you get with what we saw in the 3rd with Calgary. Just no game plan or strategy to adapt. He's a "one solution for all problems" kind of guy -- or one style of play, and just keep to it, it will eventually work! -- and that just doesn't cut it anymore, if it ever really did.

Talbot certainly wasn't good but of the 5 goals I saw go in he had little or no help on the D. Terrible positional play and poor back checking too.

You can't win with these guys we have on the blueline. I don't know if its just that the raw talent isn't there but its been obvious for 2 decades that we just can't get it done.

"Up next Todd McLellan"

Next in reality: Vegas Assistant Coach

Please let this be because he's fired.

EDIT: He there.

Didn’t D. Sutter say he wasn’t ready to retire from coaching yet? Q is a pipe dream but Sutter lives just down the road.

I hate McLellan more than Eakins.

Same here. Eakins didn't screw up a roster with a mature McDavid and Draisaitl on it.

Not absolving Chia of blame btw. I feel like I have to keep saying that every time I say anything bad about Mclellan because I know there's a few "It's not Mclellan's fault" posters still left out there.

Tired of old time coaches past their prime. This team needs something new. Quenville is the same old ****.

To be fair the last time we hired the hot “up and Coming” coach. Well. I’m sure you remember. I’d rather go with a proven record than that again. I also don’t believe that Q is the answer I should state. If he couldn’t get much out of the hawks roster that’s 5 times as good as ours I don’t see him as a good option

Puljujarvi makes a mistake, benched for accountability!
Talbot lets in 4 goals on 11 shots! Kept in the whole game and bleeds even more goals. Shove an accountability stick up your ass, Todd.

It's a damn shame that if McLellan gets fired that Chiarelli gets another kick at the can to bring someone else in.

McLellan may have lost the room and he's probably going to eventually have to fall on the sword. But Chiarelli is the architect of this disaster. That should never be forgotten or excused even if Todd does have to go.

4 goals on 11 shots, and doesn't even give Talbot a mercy pull. Todd's inability to adjust a ****ing game is a main reason why he's a garbage coach. He can gtfo anytime soon along with Chiarelli.

Everyone says he looks like a Koala Bear, and I agree, but I think he looks and acts like Mr Bea

Don't want either of them. The Oilers need a younger coach who will allow them to play with some freedom, this team is already wound up too tight as is. Sutter or Quenneville would just make it worse, Sutter especially.

Heh. Oilers post game bitching about Talbot.

There are always gonna be difficult shots. But your job is just to save most, if not all. Every goalie faces difficult shots

Yep Chia is more at fault for this than todd

IF chia and Todd get fired.. I feel so bad for the guys that come in to try and fix this. Chia has absolutely mauled any depth we had..

It should alleviate some of the pressure on everyone (the players included) as they will be--symbolically or otherwise--'firing' some of the blame for this garbage. At this stage I'm not sure there is any other answer.

Chia is terrible.

However when you have a coach coaching a team this badly how do you win trades? Who do you know who needs to be moved and who doesn't? How do you get any f***ing value?

Even with how much I hate Chia, he can't even try and fix this team with McLellan here.

Leaving Talbot in the whole game is actually holding him more accountable than taking him out.

bad hockey players play bad hockey.

It's weird how Todd never changes goalies nor does he call timeouts. Both moves have known to provide spark plugs in the history of this game. If it works, great, if it doesn't, then no problem, at least you're trying to do something about the bleeding. Bottom line, it cant hurt to use em.

on to the next...

Hey .... Joel Quenville ... would you like to coach the Oilers? No, we don't have any wingers. Yeah that's right our offensive depth is pretty bad. Well see the thing is, our D is kinda crap. Goaltending is a bit of a questio ....

Hello ...

Hel ...

I think your phone cut out. Joel? Are you there Joel? Hello?

Yeah, I remember well. He made waves as in the Premier League as the Chairman of Southampton almost immediately.
