It's easily the biggest choke job of this era. Boston smashed records with 65 regular season wins then losing to a team who had 50 less points in the regular season.
That's why I love the playoffs. Every year it continues to show that it's a different game than the regular season. Boston never once saw a forecheck like that all year and were shell shocked.

Caps vs. Habs in 2010 and Leafs Habs in 2021 were worse IMO. Those were two atrocious Habs teams that didn't belong in the playoffs, the Panthers just underperformed all year, very different IMO.

Yes, lightning got swept but they werent the greatest team of all time.
People need to stop this "greatest team of all time" nonsense. I realize some of your memories go back to 2010 and no further, but Boston this year was NOT the greatest team of all time. They weren't even the greatest Bruins team of all time.

Their losing to Florida in normal circumstances would be a fairly big disappointment, but blowing the 3-1 series lead.... That's just bad.

It's not really a "choke" if you never had a lead so this is definitely worse than 2019 Tampa Bay.

Now if you want debate which performance was worse in general, that's different.

Also at least we had the excuse of our top defenseman Hedman being out injured, what's Boston's excuse?

There are never any guarantees. My team either goes on or goes home tomorrow. I've been following them for 51 years so I think I know what the drill is. Every time your team makes it you have hopes but most all the time things derail somewhere along the line and then it's start over again next year.

Every year you get all kinds of cockiness from all the fanbases but only one of them gets to win but even after that it's really really hard to do it again. A bit of humility is always good and you might not like the teams you play against but you should always respect them enough to know that any one of them can do your team in. Four rounds of this shit is a lot----there are injuries, crazy bounces and refs making mistakes, sometimes f***ing one team over more and there's almost no accounting for all the shit that can go wrong. So no matter how good your team is it's not going to win without a lot of luck along the way.

The fact that this happened to a team that has won before with some of the most revered leadership chops in the game, makes this one of if not the biggest upset in NHL history.

Sure, you can argue the Tampa Columbus series, but that was before Tampa learned how to win, this one is way way worse and will likely trigger a franchise retool.

Was changing the goalie in game 7 the right thing to do? Was Ullmark that bad?
Look at Bobs stats for the series. Bob went 3-1 with a near 4 GAA and a .891 save %. You don’t win many regular season games with those stats, never mind playoff games. Yes the bruins goalies were that bad. Also their defense didn’t help them much.

I know they arent but I guess you have enough assumptions to have it all figured out so carry on.

133 points in the regular season which represents the highest total in NHL history. Previously, this record belonged to the 1976-77 edition of the Montreal Canadiens, which had 132 points in 80 games. I expected them to go to the final and win because they were good in net, a very good defense, a solid attack and good role players. They were complete. So it's amazing to see them lose in the first round. The edition of the Canadians (1976-1977) would not have collapsed in this way. Sad end for Bergeron and Krejci.

I mean, if you said 3 weeks ago that the Leafs would end up having a more successful season than the Bruins, what would you have said? That should be the gauge for how monumental this is

That it's quite likely? Leafs have a very talented lineup and one series is quite random. We had St. Louis win the cup from a way more unexpected position in my mind just a couple of years ago.

Of course choking away a 3-1 as the favorite in a series is a big choke but nowhere close to a big favorite being manhandled 4 straight ala Tampa.

Not to mention Panthers were 2-2 vs Boston in the regular season so based on that it should have been a close series, which it was.

For what it's worth I would still argue that Boston's season is more impressive and will be remembered as such, other than the memes about breaking a choke curse, unless Leafs go abit further. Which they might very well do of course infact wouldn't be all that surprised if they win it all now that the ghost is off the back.

Then again this place loves hyperbole so I guess it might be remembered as the "biggest choke" of all time, atleast till next playoffs.
