Is the Bruins loss the biggest choke job ever?

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. I’ll go yes. 3-1 series lead and a blown 3-2 lead in game 7 with 50 seconds left.

Florida when healthy has a very, very good offense though, and Bennett, Tkachuk, Verhaege and Montour are gamers.

The only game they lost the entire season was the championship game. That's the epitome of a choke. If you don't think they choked that game you don't believe in the concept of choking.
I don’t agree. the two best teams playing each other in the championship game. that’s not the same as losing to a team so significantly worse than you are, in theory, right at the beginning of the playoffs.

See, now this is where I turn into a self-loathing idiot. This is where I find myself feeling sorry for Bruins fans and hate myself because of it.

I will never be happy again.

laugh all you guys want. It won't be funny when load management is rampant in the NHL because the regular season has been deemed worthless. It's just a matter of time.

We as fans will pay.

I think we'd be much happier if diving was removed from the game and teams weren't rewarded when they do it.

I said the Bruins were "paper tigers" in this thread way back in January, and everyone was jumping all over me telling me I was wrong and stupid:

I also posted in this February thread, again voicing concern over the Bruins in the playoffs:

One of the epic collapses.
Feel sorry for Bruins Fans
Nothing worse than having high expectations and having the rug pulled out from under you

Florida was last seasons Presidents' Trophy winner with one of the best forms in the whole league right before playoffs. Yes, Bruins shattered records during the regular season, but I don't know how anyone can say that a hard fought playoff series with a game 7 overtime is a choke job.

Unless, of course, we are talking about losing to a team coached by Paul Maurice.

It already happened. How do you think you got Bertuzzi to fit in the cap?

Should have switched to Swayman by game 5
Ulmark sucked. He was too focused on wanting to fight Tkachuk that he couldn't be bothered to make saves.

How about:

The Bustin' Bruins

?

I really hope Jack Edwards is in shambles. He deserves it, he’s terrible for the sport
Oh, he's a miserable little turd, isn't he? You just know he's huddled in a corner, trembling, muttering nonsense, sucking his thumb. His wife's telling him to come back to bed, he replies with some random comments about Boston as a team of destiny. She rolls her eyes and turns out the light, leaving Jack in his corner.

*HUGE* asterisk on Boston's regular season ,cough cough, "RECORD"

54 regulation-time wins in 82 games (translates to 53 in 80)
1976/77 Montreal Canadiens with 60 wins in 80 games. And another Cup win, barely breaking a sweat.

Who better now?

Good call - good on ya for calling it as you see it. Bs fans don't like truth. They prefer to live in their little fantasy dome. And now it's hitting them, that things aren't as they thought. The 2022-23 Boston Bruins are just another 1992-1993 Pittsburgh Penguins - a fragile unit, a pretender to the throne occupied since 1976/77 by their bitter arch rival (and schoolteacher) the Montreal Canadiens. Bs fans must be so angry about what has happened.

Was the Bruins's loss a surprise? I am not sure, to be honest, and I am a diehard Bruin fan. This is an old team with a few key players that are reaching their best due date. Also, you have to look at all the players that returned from surgery. These Bruins need a year to retool. they need to develop their farm team and stop trading away draft picks. It will be interesting to see what Bergeron and Krejci do. It wold not be a surprise to see them thank Bruins fans and walk into the sunset.

Patrice Bergeron has been an absolute treat to watch over the years - and I'm not a Bs fan. It will be a huge loss for Boston, but then, all good things must come to an end. Bergeron gone. Krejci gone. Big Z gone. The old heroes are hangin' em up - but that was bound to happen. What's important, as you say, is what the organization does going forward. And trading away draft picks is certainly not the way to go about things.

I would say "Best of luck," but I really do hate the Boston Bruins. Nothing personal to you.

Id say it depends if you feel getting swept or blowing a 3-1 series is worse. I dont know which i feel is worse tampa or boston but i initially felt the lightnings loss was worse.

Probably since they had a 3-1 lead with 2 of the final 3 on home ice.
