65 wins.

Up 3-1 in series.

At home up in 3rd period with one minute to go.

Lose in first round.

Only thing that seems similar is Red Sox overcoming yankees down 3-0 - but even then, it’s not like how this series turned out.

Bruins had most points ever. Florida battled its way in final days.

Wow.

This is absolutely the biggest choke job I’ve ever seen

I wanted to play the Bruins in round 2.

But now I never have to hear another ****ing “It was 3-1” joke again.

This is way worse than our Montreal series

With Tampa and Washington, I felt they were going to at least bounce back at some point and learn from it. This Boston team was pretty much all-in for this year only. I don’t see this team winning a Cup in quite some time with the aging core players and cap issues.

I think Tampa getting swept is a bit more of a shocker but the Bruins did give up a last minute goal and lose in OT. That's choking away a game that is practically in the bag.

Still can't believe Montgomery played Swayman in a game 7 over Ullmark. I know Ullmark had two back to back losses but still...

Nah. Not even the biggest choke job in Boston sports history. Ask any Boston fan and the 2007 Patriots (18-1) had a worse loss.
Not close.

What did the Patriots choke away in 2007? They didn't blow a 14 point lead with like two minutes left. They beat two teams to get there. You can say they "blew" a perfect season. But in the context of the game itself, I didn't see a team that choked. We aren't talking Falcons 28-3.

Is the 2007 Patriots more heartbreaking? Probably.

This is worse in terms of choking. It wasn't a one game tournament where they lost after having a lead with 59 seconds left. They are up 3-1 on an inferior opponent. 65 wins. Three chances to end it.

The 2007 loss wasn't the end for the Patriots either. People still expected them to be super bowl contenders. Roster was mostly intact. They went on to win three more titles.

Talk to a Boston fan.

Lightning got swept by CBJ during their recent 62 win season in the first round. That trumps making it to game 7. Florida was also a tougher team than CBJ, and I think TB was still better than Boston even if they won 3 less.

One thing teams like Florida have going for them, is they were rolling heading into the playoffs having to win just to get in. STL and LA won Cups with hot runs at the end of seasons as well. Makes a world of difference to come into the playoffs hot, rather than backing your way in.

laugh all you guys want. It won't be funny when load management is rampant in the NHL because the regular season has been deemed worthless. It's just a matter of time.

We as fans will pay.
I've already spent very little interest in the regular season just make the playoffs that's all you have to do

Considering Florida was not your run of the mill 8th seed, I'd think this was a closer series going in than some other may have.

Florida was no Pitt, NYI or Capitals team.

These guys won a Presidents Trophy last year.

Still, as good as the Bruins played and being up 3-1 this is a bad result.

Still think the worst upset was Tampa Bay and Columbus. Tampa won 62 games that season IIRC, and got swept, dropped 4 straight, to the Jackets.

Definitely most embarrassing.

Right up their with the 2010 choke they had against the Flyers.

Couldn't happen to a nicer organization.

Was this Bruins team a bit slow paced ?

I think Tampa and Colorado had speedier teams when they won their cups .
