At first Chuck was a moron for signing Sanheim to a bridge instead of a big long-term deal.

Then Chuck was a moron for extending Sanheim to a big long-term deal.

Now.... we're at Sanheim is a stud first-pairing defenseman? So I guess the long-term contract is a good thing?

That trade was all about Torts for sure. He views Sanheim as just another Soy Boy like Frost. Maybe his tune has changed this season but he definitely wanted him gone over the summer.

Sanheim's success so far is a pretty big signal that their evaluation sucks. The people in charge don't hear the alarm, as usual.

They want to build the team around a good defense and they don't even know what that looks like.

I actually supported the Sanheim extension when it happened.

And even though I criticized Sanheim's huge dropoff in play last season, I held firm that the contract was not "unmovable" like so many fans claimed and I said that I thought Sanheim would rebound and that ultimately it would prove to be a fine contract.

So I'm not sure what you're talking about.
