If you have to zapruder the film to try and prove your point. You proved exactly why the NHL said the call Stood.

If every replay review had to get zapruderd the games would be 2 hours longer

That shows nothing without seeing from the other side as well lol
Look at the twitter link I just posted. The puck literally starts rotating in a different direction lol. Not to mention the stick also recoils at the exact same moment. This isn’t debatable, never mind the fact that it clearly hits from the other angle as well…

That’s not how things work lol. The rule is the rule

I and many others could literally tell after watching the replay one time on the broadcast. These slowed down replays are just for the people who choose to ignore what actually happened

Ok. So you ready for every replay in every sport to last an hour? Thus making every game last 4+ hours?
I dont. And thats not the how replay should be used. And im glad it is not being used in that fashion

Hockey doesn't work in the US? The whole damn country? Idk who you're trying to fool. But you're factually wrong. The NHL has never been more popular in it's existence nor players salaries higher than they are now. Not to mention the worth of teams in either Canada or the US to be in the billions. Far more than they have ever been worth

Who tf are the boilermakers? I've been as far south as Alabama and as far north as Manhattan (not that far I know). Sure Football is number 1. Football is to the US as Hockey is to Canada. But I'd wager you've never been to more than a couple states, if any. You have no idea what you're talking about.

Tons of US sports fans know Sid, due to his marketing being much better during prime. As well as playing on a US team. And Olympic exposure. I can guarantee McDavid would be far more known in the US if he played for and American team as well as in the Olympics
If Sid played in Winnipeg nobody would even know he existed. Americans would rather watch NBA play in games than actual playoff hockey.

What a ridiculous argument. If the rule is in place, it should be used correctly. Unfortunately in this case it wasn’t. Glad you came around to the puck hitting the stick though

His notoriety would be markedly less for sure. But the Olympics alone would've garnered him some rep in the states to casual fans. Sid was apart of a perfect storm of marketing, rivalry with Ovi and the Caps. Being on an American team, playing the Olympics. All of that made him pretty well known in the US as far as modern hockey players go. Heck he even has an ESPN ESPY award lol

Obviously not, but what Canadian teams do have are the biggest, and therefore loudest fanbases who make up the biggest fuss whenever any call goes against their team.

Well gee about the Olympics… just another failure for Bettman.

I predict the first 3 penalties in the Leaf/Lightning game tonight to be against Toronto. And they will be softies.

Yes. Leafs will get the first PP and then they'll get the next 3 as to not seem obviously biased :sarcasm:

Ok just curious cause I had to look that up to see what it was haha
Nope. They won't get the first. I predict the first 3 against us and if Tampa needs a tying goal, they will get a 5-3. Watch.

The differential tonight will clearly favor Tampa.

Now, hear me out: I am NOT an Oilers fan and I am not talking about this game specifically.

It seems that more often than not, the Canadian teams get the shaft in the playoffs. I don't know what it is, but it seems in every key moment the Canadian team is the one who gets the critical penalty. Or has a controversial review go against them.

Is there a way we can track this? I am far from a fan of any Canadian team except the one I cheer for. But come on, at some point there has to be some sort of agenda set by the league right? Everyone can see it.
Turn this around 180 and x10, and you’ll get close.

We have common ground there. Also a failure on the owners too. They don't want to pay the extra insurance money iirc
The Olympic comitee were the ones that paid it when they did go. The IOC is the most corrupt organization in sports so I'd rather keep the blame on them

Highly disagree with that notion. All it takes is the right player(s) on the right team to grow a market. I was 10 years old in Ovie's rookie year. Watching the DC,Maryland,Virginia area fall in love with him and the Caps as they got better and better, was pretty damn cool. Even while being a Pens fan.

If it can happen in the Nation's capital, Tampa Florida, Dallas Texas, LA, St Louis Missouri ; All Cup winning teams with good fanbases, it can happy anywhere in the US. Except maybe Arizona lol

No doubt. My point still stands though that any US team in the playoffs will sellout their barn. Also I'm literally on the opposite side of the country to LA. VERY few casuals over here are attracted to the celebrity appeal of the LA market.

They might see on ESPN a clip of Will Ferrell in the stands and go "haha that's cool". And that's it
This crap really gets old. Put the Coyotes entire record history in any of the other cities you mentioned and tell me how they draw?

Put the Lightning in Phoenix the past 10 years and tell me how the fan base does not grow?

It’s the team not the sport that is the problem in AZ.

Yup. If you have an owner who does not care.

Perfect examples

Oakland (soon to be LV A’s). Owner sold literally all the good players for a penny and stripped the team to the studs. so he could force the city to build him a new stadium.

Or the WFT/Cleveland browns. You have an owner who does not give two **** about the quality of the team he owns, the fans in that city will repay in kind.

Dodgers under McCourt are another example. fans boycotted the team until he was forced to sell.

clippers were the same with their previous owner. Until he was forced to sell and banned for life by the NBA

This some deep ops shit- obfuscating a clearly blown review with a nonsense conspiracy theory.

The league and refs just suck. Vilardi clearly made contact with the puck, but it was deniable enough that they didn’t wanna reverse the call in LA. That’s it. That’s the conspiracy, that they didn’t wanna anger the home fans or have cars burned and shit. Bad look for the league, so better to just make a call you know is wrong, but is close enough that LA fans wouldn’t accept it had it been overturned.
