I am a fan of Kucherov and he’s obviously an amazing player but not the greatest look
Does the fact that he showed up and balled out for the actual all star game, matter? He was probably the best player on team Hughes. He was one of the few with jump in his step.

Can you imagine explaining this to a non-hockey person?

"What did this Kucherov guy do to make everyone so mad?"
"He was in the all-star skills competition and didn't try hard at all"
"Ah the all star game must be a big deal?"
"Well this wasn't even the all-star game, it was the skills competition before the game"
"Oh that must be an important competition"
"No, not really, it's pretty laid back, guys are having fun, its just an exhibition"
"So the other guys all try really hard then?"
"Well not really, but they make it look like they are"
And he actually played great in the all star game.... you hit the nail right on!

For one thing, "least liked" and "most disliked" are different things entirely. Kucherov is very clearly neither.

Some weird anecdote about kids at a hockey party doesn't change that fact that...well...so many kids apparently had Kucherov jerseys in the first place.

Some people are making way too much of a guy not caring about an All Star Game/Skills Competition. If you want a try-hard crybaby personality-less awkward dope, just be a McDavid fan or something. If Kucherov's lack of effort really pissed that many people off, he simply won't be voted back next year. Easy.

Yea but I get it if it's like a real game but like a skills competition? The players normally don't gaf about this weekend evidence in their play of past ones. Just because he's a little more blatant about it means we gotta make a 18 page about it and be outraged about him? This feels like it has more to do with hatred of the player than it does of what he actually did. People are justified to hate him but let's just admit it's that not because of what he did at the skills competition. Alot of fans that has been beat by his lightning. I feel like this wouldn't be a big deal if it was someone else.
Yes, the problem is us and our secret agenda of outrage, not the player who acts like a petulant 12-year old.

Doesn’t piss me off in the slightest, just made himself look like a complete tool. Crosby was laughing and joking with him about it too and Kucherov just rolled his eyes. He just seems like a miserable and unlikeable person and it’s extra cringey because it seems like he’s trying to be.

I can point the kids to his highlight reels for when the games matter most. Maybe some should stick to all star games?

Edit: competitions

It was honestly embarrassing for him, he was acting like a child does when things don't get their way (which is how he has behaved in the past as well)

Be a professional and give a half-decent effort for a handful of minutes. No one expects 100%, but there were people paying their hard-earned money to watch you, the same people who help create enough revenue behind the league to fund your handsome salary.

The guy probably has more playoff points than most NHL teams' rosters combined. But the trolls are angry that for some silly stickhandling competition he completed it in 40 seconds instead of 20 lmao
Yes, he's an excellent NHLer who is one of the most prolific playoff producers in NHL history

He also behaved extremely immaturely last night and has a history of asshole behaviour. No amount of "lmao trolls mad" helps defend it, it just shows you miss the point

It’s a boring garbage event and Kuch treats it as such

I have no problem with it

Did anyone see him smiling after? It was a troll attempt. No offense to anyone on the message board but I can't believe I have to explain this. He's on a rival team with tampa in Toronto lol! Looked like it worked! Everyone loves a villain! I bet even Toronto hockey mecca..

Why do people care whether the players want to be there or not? It is a mean nothing event for all involved. Players back in the day also took it non seriously as well. Even as a kid, once I had seen 3 or 4 of them, I was over them, as they aren't good hockey at all.

Have you guys not seen him play? He moves slowly and looks bored when he’s playing his ass off in the Stanley Cup Finals - that’s just how he is.

Putting Kuch in a skills competition and expecting flash and excitement was the equivalent of putting Larry Bird in a dunk contest* and then complaining that he’s not slamming like MJ while smiling like Magic. It doesn’t play to his strengths, it doesn’t showcase what makes him great, and that just isn’t his personality.

* Just so people don’t get the wrong idea, Bird absolutely could and did dunk. The guy was closer to 6’11” than the 6’9” he was listed as and in his younger, pre-back injury days he was far more athletic than people today give him credit for. But he was never flashy with his dunks like he was with his passes - he was much more utilitarian when it came to that aspect of his game, and he wouldn’t have been very fun to watch in a dunk contest.

The least skilled in the NHL? What on earth is this thread hahahaha. Kuch is among the most skilled in the league and arguably you could say he’s the most skilled. Didn’t want to be there plain and simple and his actions showed it. Nothing more to see here.
