Let's be clear: the All-Star Game is just another excuse. The real reason for Kucherov’s hate is a mixture of jealousy (he won cups, their "contenders" did not) and russophobia.
Let's be clear: "they are just jealous" when there is absolutely legitimate grounds for critique is one of the lamest deflections possible.

There was a time players really wanted to be selected. Now we need to ask why so? What is the difference between now and then? Is it that mindset has changed, sign of the times? The format too dull? Too watered (ie in the past all All Stars were stars)?

He comes off like an asshole sometimes but that's fine, better than boring... in small doses anyway. Honestly his lack of effort made the competition more interesting.

Guys a douche but no denying the talent. He's not paid to be likable but to make TB a winner and he succeeds there. Plenty others are not nice people in sports but others put up with them because they win.

Why is it so hard to admit that the guy acted like a dick? A player getting booed at the skills competition for a careless and effort-less performance is unheard of, in any sport. It’s a black eye to have a top player not just be lazy, but outright make a mockery of the fans wanting to see him perform on a leaguewide stage. Nobody takes the competition all that seriously, but what kind of jackass goes out there and makes a travesty of it on purpose?

Nobody’s attacking Tampa, or the Lightning, or their past successes. It’s just your player acted like an asshole. It could have been any team and the reaction would have been the same.

Nah mostly because he plays dirty when he's down

Doughty and Kopitar and Toews and Kane won Cups and aren't hated across the league. Heck, even Stamkos and Point or Hedman aren't. Only Kucherov.
Wow, this guy thinks Drew Doughty is a class act and doesn’t play dirty. Who’s gonna tell him?

He scored a goal and assist while being half shifted. Calm down.

I know what it feels like to never win a cup for a decade, it's rough. My parents bought season tickets in '92, and we had to wait until '04 to see our first cup. After that we had to suffer all the way until 2020 and 2021 to see our 2nd and 3rd cup.

We've even lost 2 Cups between the founding of our franchise and today.

I feel your pain Canada.

PS: If this thread was about a player on Toronto it would be locked and many posters would be banned.

Huh? Your trolling missed the mark. I'm a Wings fan who's gotten to see 4 Cups since I've been a fan.

I have no thing with Kucherov. It just seems unprofessional and immature.

Definitely the first guy to ever not give a blatant crap about this all star weekend. I mean players don't ever pack it in for these things...

One of the most pathetic post I have read on here.

By gawd, how are the kids going to recover from this? Their childhood is ruined.

Kucherov should be an ambassador and model for kids to look up to - should be. We are asking too much because the guy is a d-bag and absolutely not a personality that kids should look up to. Nevermind being an ambassador, the guy can't even pretend to care for 20minutes.

This doesn't effect anyone and a lot of the posts are over the top - especially ones demanding penalties and what not. But I think it's fair to say this will lose Kucherov some fans based on the impression he gives to kids.

Can't believe some non-Lighting fans actually want to see this douchebag win the Ross or Hart. Knew he was a classless bum ever since those post game interview antics years ago.

The league leader in points on the team who has dominated the league for the last 10 years is clearly the least liked player in the league.

He's also very bad at hockey.

I love how you don't adress any points just post some random crap without any real purpose.

You don't think he acts like an ass? Its just jealousy and russophobia?
I think there are a lot of hockey players whose behavior is worse but they don't get as much criticism. especially if they play for Edmonton and Toronto.

Oh no he was 15 seconds slower in the skill competition than he could have been. What a terrible person. deserves criticism and a 20 page thread. You are looking for any reason to be offended and making a problem out of nothing. It's jealousy and nothing else. That's why 80% hateful comments come from Leafs and Oilers fans.

Your hate only makes him stronger.
I don't really care about him outside of this isolated incident. Nobody is debating his hockey talent, or past success, or even legitimate possibility of future success. How is this so hard to understand.

Read the post by tarheelhockey because you seem to be missing every possible point and there is nothing hateful in it. Calling out someone for their actions isn't "hate".

I think you're missing the point that there is absolutely NOTHING to criticize Kucherov for. You're just biased and made up your own reasons. Why is there no thread about Draisaitl who took 46 seconds in an accuracy shooting? It looks like his effort wasn't enough, but no one has a problem with that.

Sadly, I’m not surprised - the guy is a douche. Surprised to see some defending him though. He acted like a dirtbag, so, he’ll be called such. Not hard to grasp.

Because it wasn't blatant? Because he finished in the middle of the pack? Because it isn't exactly clear if 46 seconds is too little or too much? Is that enough?

Anyone that takes the time to learn more about him will quickly learn he is one of the hardest working players in the league and the results speak for themselves. Other players look up to him including MVP frontrunner MacKinnon.
