I just hope Army doesn't do any stupid trades under pressure.
Tom , I didn't know you visited the forums .. how is the stillman family doing?
look Mr Stillman, i will still buy merch and tickets but dont blow smoke up my arse tommy boy..
He’s trying to say that the poster doesn’t know what the owners think. You can’t seriously say you miss Checketts or worse the Lauries…..
So you have some sort of source inside the organization that the only thing the ownership group cares about is profits?Tom , I didn't know you visited the forums .. how is the stillman family doing?

While posting that he himself knows what the owners think. He’s trying to say that the poster doesn’t know what the owners think.
Thanks - I misread what you stated and didn’t see his previous post on the last page. I agree with you!So you have some sort of source inside the organization that the only thing the ownership group cares about is profits?

It was earlier than that. Began when players got drunk at parade. Showed lack of commitment to training. Should have started the rebuild then. Fire Army!Looking back, it all began when Armstrong let Maroon walk for peanuts, without the courtesy of a phone call. I should’ve called for his firing then.
What we’re seeing now is just the gradual culmination of such moves, which have sent the wrong message to a championship team, until eventually that team is dismantled, the magic is gone, and they’re not good anymore.
Pieces are missing. Some due to injury (JayBo), some due to retirement and others due to trade/let walk. The room seems to have no definitive or strong voice and the team isn’t as good as they looked on paper. Army has made moves but they’re not looking to be the right ones, we’ve lost key coaching and… yeah. Our ownership is good.
We need a reboot of some aspects of the management and maybe the coaching staff.
Obviously, something is rotten in our team culture right now.

This is why you don’t break up a team after they figure it out and win it all. The Gloria culture is long gone and for what?
Right facts wrong conclusion. How many teams repeated in last 20 years? 2. You can’t just keep everyone together in Cap world and even if you could players get older. Winning can lessen hunger. You lose what made it magic. Army has kept us among top teams for over dozen years with only couple hiccups. Not every move worked out, but most did. And he isn’t afraid to make mistakes. He has continued to evolve roster. And a crappy 2 weeks doesn’t change that.Pieces are missing. Some due to injury (JayBo), some due to retirement and others due to trade/let walk. I’m not opposed to a 2-3 year rebuild. Selling off the UFA’s for a couple 1st and a couple 2nds doesn’t sound bad. That would almost guarantee a top 5 pick this year.
You may be right. You may be wrong. Time will tell. Going to be an interesting ride either waydont listen to me… my dumbass was rooting for a tank around christmas of 2018 right before they made their run. I’m like George Costanza. Every decision I have ever made was wrong, so that means the opposite has to be right.
When you break down main characters out of club it will eventually crash down remaining main characters. Business is business and players are professionals but still humans. Our ownership is good.

Chicago had an amazing 5 years, but as soon as they went and had to sign their big guys they fell flat.
There's also no telling that even if we did bring back everyone we let go if we were still going to be able to keep going. We had almost the exact same lineup the year after we won the cup and got bounced round one. Especially when one of those weren't coming back no matter what and two had to retire due to injuries.

That is how it needs to be done in pro sports. You need to move forward or you go backwards. Astros won WS last night 5 years after their last title. They have been in ALCS for 6 straight years. They have been dominant. You know how many players from 2017 champions are on current Astros team? 5. I don’t know if we, like Astros, will win another titke in next couple years, but I do know that 2019 Blues roster wouldn’t be able to win 2023 Cup.
The teams that won multiples generally did so with significant turnover, younger players taking bigger roles. Just like we have tried to do. The idea that we should have just kept rolling out same lineup every year since Cup is silly.Only 2 repeated, but 4 won multiple cups with the same core in a short span. Kings won 2, Penguins won 3, Blackhawks won 3, Tampa won 2. On top of that Boston won 1 and lost 2, Tampa lost 2 more. The leadership and best players of those teams were all largely still there. The idea that our championship roster was mismanaged shouldn't really be surprising.
Plus those teams had/have a better core than the blues. Kopitar/Doughty/Quick, Crosby/Malkin/Letang, Kane/Toews/Keith, Hedman/Kucherov/Stamkos/VasiThe teams that won multiples generally did so with significant turnover, younger players taking bigger roles. True enough. Not sure what that has to do with underlying point?Plus those teams had/have a better core than the blues. Kopitar/Doughty/Quick, Crosby/Malkin/Letang, Kane/Toews/Keith, Hedman/Kucherov/Stamkos/Vasi

It's not like we chose to get rid of Steen and JayBo. They were forced to retire. Petro was offered richest contract in franchise history and chose to leave. Schwart's dad died and he wanted to be closer to family. Obviously Perron is sore spot for many but he was basically a pp specialist by last year. Rest of top of roster from Cup is still here- ROR, Tank, Schenn, Binny, Parayko. We can quibble about how those guys were replaced (and I would point out that Faulk and Buchy have arguably been our best players last 1+ seasons), but let's not act like there was a concerted effort to rip apart Championship team. The turnover happened in the middle of the roster, though, not the core. That's a key difference to ours which has happened at the top of the roster as well.
My point was it's easier to build around elite talent unlike the blues who had very good talentTrue enough. Not sure what that has to do with underlying point?
Certainly. Still not clear whether you are advocating we should have changed less or ???My point was it's easier to build around elite talent unlike the blues who had very good talent
I think we did a good job of managing the roster imo. The only one that hurts is Petro but we gave him a very competitive offer. Maybe we could have changed players but we did a decent job of keeping majority of the talent. Any roster is going to change over time and I think we did a good job of trying to mitigate the losesCertainly. Still not clear whether you are advocating we should have changed less or ???
