An interview with Brad Larsen:

All of the sudden I'm getting a lot of advertisements in Athletic articles. It is not as bad when reading on the computer, but it was almost every 2-3 paragraphs on my iPhone. An interview with Brad Larsen:

“As hungry as you are to score, you have to be just as hungry to get it back”View attachment 583891
There will be systematic changes to the defense. Very curious to see the specifics of them.
You have to start quoting these people and confronting them directly because I don't know if I unwittingly skip over or can't remember people seemingly saying they'd rather lose 5-4 than win 2-1. I know you aren't saying I do but I seriously don't care how we win so long as we win and I think that's how most see it. Our defense and offense both need improvement. If we're going to be a high scoring team we need a better powerplay and we need to play better defense to flip possession more so we can have the puck more.“As hungry as you are to score, you have to be just as hungry to get it back”
As noted in the “Superstar Laine” thread, many fans around here do not like or agree with that 1st line, not understanding that ALL the “best” players and “best” teams must (and do) do that in order to WIN GAMES.
5-4 wins (or losses, as some of you seem to feel) should not be seen as ANY better than 2-1 wins.

It’s not going to happen. The poster has been asked to do this before and has repeatedly balked. You have to start quoting these people and confronting them directly because I don't know if I unwittingly skip over or can't remember people seemingly saying they'd rather lose 5-4 than win 2-1. Think about all the goals Nash scored in tight around the net.Sounds like they're trying to get Laine to play a 200-foot game - much like Hitchcock did with Rick Nash.

Patty don’t do rebounds….
1 goal from a tip near the front of the net. 1 goal off a rebound off the boards behind the net.
Zero “hard area” goals.
I’m not saying it IS an “aspect of his game”, I’m saying it SHOULD BE.

So the coaching staff may be willing to actually punish guys for not playing defense?View attachment 583891

I'm in agreement in principle, but let me clarify my reference to Rick Nash. Laine is not Rick Nash. He has a different body frame and different skills. All I'm saying is they're trying to get him to be just as enthusiastic in his defensive play as he is in his offense.
Obviously the answer to this question is “no.”Do people really need to quote posts every time they attempt to make a point where they “agree” or “go against” other things that have been posted on here?
Never noticed but I also use their app and not the website on my phone. I also use an adblocker on Safari. All of the sudden I'm getting a lot of advertisements in Athletic articles. It is not as bad when reading on the computer, but it was almost every 2-3 paragraphs on my iPhone.
I did enjoy the article though. Lars seems like a players coach, very approachable, and completely up front about expectations.

On second thought I think I just need to ignore the strawmen you always have debates with and just focus on your points themselves. That idiosyncrasy annoys me but all I'm doing by complaining about it is derailing the thread. There’s been plenty of “quoting” and “confronting” over many threads and over a lengthy amount of time. Any Laine or Torts threads or talk can lead you to “many” expressing beliefs that offense is seemingly more important than defense.
How many people wanted to keep Torts (and his apparent “style” and “philosophy”) around?? Why was that number so low??
Related question, that I’ve NEVER seen answered….
WHY did Torts APPARENTLY not want to coach the CBJ anymore, but, was willing to come back and coach another team so quickly??
Yeah I did notice some restructuring, but figured it was a given with the NYT buying them.I’m very concerned about the athletic’s long range financial outlook
Adds are new today on the app…. There’s been a ton of writers moving around. Lot of smoke
Probably?Could our View attachment 584374 center ice sponsors be any lamer?
Might be worth a watch
