I can't believe he admitted that to the world, wait, yes I can.:amazed:
After he attempted to blame Mr. Mac (z''l) for his own failings as a GM and president like, the day after he passed away, I have no problem believing anything audacious and/or despicable about Doug MacLean.

Not only that, he sounds proud of himself. Someone needs to tell him that this type of behavior is actually shady is should be frowned upon. You don't get a gold star for grossly invading somebody's privacy.

Funny thing is that there's a long history of this type of stuff in sports; there wasn't any real sort of backlash against it until the 1960s. Outside of that, teams used to hire private detectives to hang around the hotel bar on the road to keep a close eye on players coming and going, and it wasn't uncommon for them to be used at home to shadow players that there had been rumors of some type about.

Personally, I have a bigger issue with the fact that he's talking about unnamed players and some issues, then specifically mentions Odelein and won't say what caused it. It's like listening to an obnoxious fan who picked up on something he regards as inside information and gloats at the local pub to his friends about hearing it....if you feel a need to bring it up, Doug, grow a pair and spill the beans instead of cackling about how you used to be an insider.

There's a paragraph that's in the Sportsnet articlebut not the Yahoo one:

Our little Russian Nicky. One of the reasons why his mom finally had to move in with him to keep him from partying all night and blaring Russian Techno music at 3am.

Good article. A good line from it:

You know those two goals you have right now? Well, you can forget about getting any more of those for the rest of this season. Seriously. Two goals in 75 games. Two goals used to be a good period when you played minor hockey in Regina, but you’re in the big leagues now. So you’ve probably already figured out that you’re not winning the Calder Trophy this year. But you are going to learn some valuable lessons. You know the other night when you were out there in overtime against Peter Forsberg and he juked you for a great scoring chance and Trotz nailed you to the bench for the rest of the overtime period? Remember how stupid Forsberg made you look when you tried to poke the puck away from him? Yeah, you’ll learn to laugh about that one in time.

Good stuff to remember for the Anti-Wennberg crowd.

Didn't really know where go put this but.

About a year ago I heard a podcast and it was like a drunk history of the columbus blue jackets. I've looked all over for it but can't find it. Figured you guys may know of it and where it is.

@Hartsy43 congrats on the star of the week DAD ⭐

I can almost all but guarantee that if we had Umberger instead of Hartnell the kids wouldn't be having this kind of success. Love to see that kind of bonding though, its gonna be hard for Richards to break up this line any time soon.

Please God let it happen. At least the Monsters would be competitive.... The Avs suck as a parent organization.

The however... is

nothing official, and much to get through for it to happen. Chief among issues: #CBJ deal with @TheFalconsAHL runs through next season.

#CBJ have had a great experience with @TheFalconsAHL, and - by all accounts - would be more than pleased to keep agreement in place. But ...

how great would be - in so many ways - to have the minor-league club right up I-71.

Meanwhile Flyers fans are still trying to convince themselves that Scotty be harmful to them.

It's pretty sad, if you read through some of those threads. Lots of posts desperately clinging to the notion that cap space in 2019 is better than a 50-point forward today. Hell, I could see the Flyers solidly in the playoffs this season if they had Hartsy.

If they were concerned about cap space in 4 years, why not trade Hartnell at the 2018 trade deadline?

Would you like 2 crappy big cap hit years from Umberger right now or 2 crappy big cap hit years from Hartnell in 2 years? I like our chances.

The goal should not to be solidly in the playoffs - it's building to win championships.

If you're looking at trades that makes teams more competitive then yes the CBJ clearly won the first year. it allowed the CBJ to be the 6th worst team in the league. if we would have kept Umby we likely would have been worse.

But from Philly's POV Hartnell is signed for 3 more seasons - how many will he be productive? Then Umby comes off the books 2 years before. Clearly Philadelphia could have gotten more value than an injured Umby, but in Umby's last 2 years it may switch back to Philly being in better shape.

To me it's a classic cbj trade. They are trading our bad contract for another bad contract for another team. Clearly Hartnell is a good player to have right now (better than Umby by far), but in a couple years we'll need to see. It's where fans get too shortsighted - and also what the cbj constantly do - they tinker just trying to get slightly better right now, then having to deal with a bad contract down the road.
