Jackets frontrunner to land Steve Moses of the KHL.

Moses has left the KHL officially and is now free to be signed. This article raves about how Columbus is practically a no brainer to sign Moses... don't know how much impact re-signing Atkinson has on potentially signing Moses.

Moses put up 57 points in 60 games with 36 goals this past season in the KHL.

Thoughts?

No reason not to, especially since we are thin at RW. This would solidify the lineup and leave Jared Boll and Corey Tropp in the press box when completely healthy

Too bad Moses wasn't here a few years ago. He could have helped GMDM get across the Olentangy without getting wet.

Thought it interesting that there were no screen names used, this week, in Porty's chat, only "guest"!

It's been that way for a few weeks. Maybe my nasty message to them about my username being used did the trick because the following week the usernames went away.

Looking for help...

Trying to find the Nikita Nikitin goal where he fell over his own slapshot and the puck went in anyhow. Can't seem to track it down!

We are still alive for a wild card. We win out, Boston wins one more, Ottawa gets 3 more pts, Florida gets 6 more points, even if Philly wins out, we're in. For as sucky as this season has been to even be mathematically alive with 7 games to go is amazing. And if its a tie I think we hold the tiebreaker over all the teams listed above.

Where have you gone really high draft pick

If we had just taken 10 of our 35 losses to OT we would only be 1 pt out right now..

I mean philly had 17 OTL and only have one more point than us and we only have 4 OTL.

On the other side of that coin if Philly and the rest had won a few more OT games we would be more toast than we are.

That's... just some kind of insane. I don't think the Hockey Gods would be that accommodating, but, hey, you never know. ;)

From today's PuckRakers:

"Ryan Johansen scored his 25th goal of the season on Friday in Chicago, giving the Blue Jackets three 25-goal scorers in a season for the first time in franchise history.

As of today, the Blue Jackets and the NHL’s top-scoring team, the Tampa Bay Lightning, were the only teams with three players with 25 or more goals. Johansen made it a trio on Friday, joining Nick Foligno (26 goals) and Scott Hartnell (25).

A night later, Atkinson capped a 4-2 win over the Blues with an empty-net goal. It was his 20th of the season, giving the Blue Jackets four 20-goals scorers for the third time in franchise history."

OK, scoring has been pretty good. As of yesterday, the CBJ had as many goals as the Pens (207); but, the defense is a different story, they had given up 50 more goals than the Pens!

Quick quiz:

What area of the team should receive the most focus for improvement during the offseason?

Hmmmm...

Trading Boll and finding a RW that can put up 30+ goals a year for a conditional seventh round pick. We can fix the defense with duct tape and paper clips.

Interesting info

Fact is we are getting so much more depth. We are on the verge of being a powerhouse with Rychel, Bjork and Milano still in the minors. If we finish this season above .500 after the level of injuries we suffered this year, it really would be a tribute to the remarkable depth and resilience of the franchise despite the claims that we lacked depth through out the year. Our level of injuries both early on and during mid-season was at a point where there was simply no way any team could overcome them.

But as to the basic question, we need defensive improvements. Time for either JJ or Tyuts to go.

Or perhaps to the shock of many on this board, it is time to look at what we can get for Murray. (I can hear the curses and anger as I write this).

I think JJ, Arty, Cam, the 2nd round picks, and maybe one of kids will be in play to upgrade the defense...

can continue in the applicable threads I guess...

Now is definitely not the time. Not that I'd be opposed to it if we could get fair value. But we won't. It's not like his injury woes are a secret, and IMO his value will never be lower than it is right now, because its already pretty low.

A healthy Ryan Murray is better than anything we would realistically get for him.

The main question here, how long we can to wait healthy Ryan Murray. Nobody knows. I have no confidence that he will be recover to start next season.
