I have just checked the scores of the stats. They match with exactly with mine, but unfortunately I have no info of the games played by a single player! So, now your stats are a bit better than mine.

I didn't notice you post about 1924 tournament, very sorry! I have noticed the same discrepancies too with Canada!

I am not finding many details on Great Britain's 1924 OG hockey games. Most of the coverage is centred on Canada and the United States hockey teams. In the Canada-Great Britain match, captain Colin Carruthers scored both GBR goals in the 19:2 defeat. And in the GBR 19:3 win over Belgium, captain A.G. Poplimont of Belgium scored all 3 of its goals.

I have contacted a British ice hockey expert but have not heard back from him. If I get a reply, I will post any information here for you.

I found one more roster of the Swedish 1972 Olympic Team. According to that, they had a third goalie, called Christer Andersson (Tingsryds AIF).

Something that I have found rather interesting regarding the 1924 Olympic hockey tournament is that almost all of the 16 games played were officiated (refereed) by other team's players. For instance, Canadian player and captain Duncan Munro served as the referee for the 28 January game of Belgium-USA. And Canadian defenceman Beattie Ramsay was the referee for the 29 January game between France and Great Britain, and also was the referee for the 30 January USA-France match.

The Canadian team's manager William Hewitt served as a referee for the 28 January Sweden-Switzerland game, and for the 31 January Sweden-Czechoslovakia game.

This was not just limited to Canada. American star player Herb Drury was the referee for the 28 January Canada-Czechoslovakia match, and USA goaltender
Albert Lacroix officiated the 31 January Belgium-France game. Another American player, Francis Synnott, served as referee for the 29 January Canada-Sweden game.

Great Britain's player-coach George Elliott Clarkson was the referee for the 31 January Canada-Switzerland game.

France's captain A. de Rauch refereed the Great Britain-Sweden match, Belgium-Great Britain, and the Canada-Great Britain game. And French hockey official R. Lacroix handled the USA-Great Britain game.

IIHF president Paul Loicq of Belgium refereed the final match of 3 February between Canada and the United States, in addition to earlier in the tournament he officiated the SWE-USA and SWE-CZE games.

Can you image such a scenario happening (with other team's players serving as referees) in today's international hockey tournaments (World Championships or Olympics)? That would be very interesting indeed!

Some other facts concerning the 1924 Olympic hockey tournament, a total of 255 goals were scored in the 16 games, for an average of almost 16 goals per game, a level of goal-scoring output that has never been equalled. This also was the first international hockey competition played according to new rules that divided the game into three 20-minute periods. And the Olympic organizers were very concerned that pucks shot over the boards into the snowbanks might trigger an avalanche, that they built a huge screen behind the hockey rink located at the base of Mont Blanc.

Yes, that kind of refereeing would be very intersting today! According to some articles, that I have, it was the same thing in Antwerp 1920 too!

Most of the goalscoring was made by Canada (5 00 110-3), USA (4 0 1 71-6) and Great Britain (3 0 2 40-38). The last one, I think, was because of the British Canadians; five out of eleven GBR players were born in Canada. Well, we will see! No wonder, that the organizers were concerned. Based on the photos I have seen, they didn't have high boards even behind the goalie! So, in principal, they didn't obey the rules, even the contemporary ones!

I was just thinking: I know that much of the 1924 US team stats, that the best goalscorer was Herb Drury (22 goals) and the second best Clarence Abel (15 goals). But if you have found some extra information of their goalscoring, it's welcome!

I received a reply from the leading expert on British ice hockey history regarding the 1924 Great Britain player statistics. He said that he also would like to find those stats. He only has incomplete information and even that differs depending on various sources (much like the same problem we are encountering). He also mentioned that the Olympic authorities did not begin to compile or publish such statistics until the late 1950's. Plus assists were not officially recorded during the 1920 through 1936 Olympic hockey tournaments. The assists were usually given by newspaper reporters in their game story accounts for their respective papers.

Here are the goal scorers (73 goals) for the 1924 United States team:

Jukka, by any chance do you have any stats or boxscores from the 1974 World Championships in Helsinki or the 1991 World Championships in Helsinki/Tampere/Turku? I am looking for Poland's player stats from the 1974 tournament or any boxscores involving Poland. Plus any player stats or boxscores involving Switzerland from the 1991 WC.

Thanks for the Suisse stats. I am still trying to work out an information exchange deal with the British hockey writer for the 1924 incomplete list of Great Britain goal scorers. Only data he has given me so far is that Eric Carruthers scored 12 goals and Colin Carruthers totalled 4 goals.

I will post more details if I am able to receive any more information from him.

So far my only information is, that Bob Wyman scored once against France 1935 and Gerry Davey scored the one goal of GBR in the final of 1938.
