Perhaps Torts had an issue with Staal pulling himself out since he clearly thought Staal was well enough to handle playing since he gave him 17+ minutes. McD's comment could have been his way of showing Staal his support where he wasn't getting any from his coach.

This isn't the time of season for conspiracies like this. Torts puts out who will help the team most. Staal has the respect of the locker room, the only thing you'd worry about (as a coach) if a player sat themself out and then declared they were fit the next game, is it becoming a distraction for the team. The team welcomes Marc, from all accounts, and respect his decision to play/sit out depending on if he thinks the team is best served w/ slash w/o him. Nothing to do w Torts.

I think Staal sitting is just a situation where his eye acted up and the vision wasn't quite as good as it was before game 3.

Yup. Lots of assumptions being made by some people here. Go read up on Occam's razor.

Staalsy has an eye issue that comes and goes. Good days, bad days. This we know. No reason to assume anything else.

And he said the absolute same thing before he even played in game 3. He told the media that his eye was acting up a few days prior and that's why he didn't play in the first two games.

I agree. I think Staal may just be recovering/seeing how his eye responds after Game 3. Still hoping that he's able to come back for good during the playoffs

Don't you tell me to read.

Hopefully Staal can make a return for game five. He'd be a big boost after Eminger's disaster game in game four.

Did NYR rush him like they did last time? When he got concussed by big brother Eric.

I don't think he re-aggravated his eye injury, I don't even know how he could. I just think he wasn't as comfortable as he thought he would be.

Might be some fluid build up in behind his eye. With hits it could increase or at least bother him more. Who knows.

I'm sure it didn't help his confidence much after getting blasted in the corner trying to fish a puck out of his skates. He got rocked and his head hit the dasher pretty hard.

For a guy who doesn't normally get hit like that I had to assume he didn't see it coming. Glad he got up but was holding my breath after that hit

Is Clowe way too fragile for his size?

dude got hit from behind... it was a boardin call, anyone in that situation wouldve and couldve been hurt badly.. hes not fragile just plays a physical game, that puts him in situations to possibly be hurt
