Losing Powe means lost speed in the bottom 6. Kreider should replace him and if/when Clowe is ready Pyatt should sit. Try to get Nash going by putting him with Brassard.

Nash - Brassard - Zucc
Hagelin - Stepan - Callahan
Clowe - Richards - Kreider/Pyatt
Asham - Boyle - Dorsett

Richards needs to wake the **** up.

As was it stupid to declare the problem solved because you and your brother no longer require reading glasses.

It's not as simple as imperfect vision ---> laser eye surgery.

FYI, not just my brother...my brother, my wife, and myself.

If he has blurry vision, it's correctable. if he has swelling in the eye, fluid, etc, that's not as correctable, as long as he has normal thickness in his cornea he can correct blurriness with laser eye surgery.

Thought Staal played good, not great.

Got lost on coverage a few times, luckily Wash didn't make us pay.

Overall though, a better option than Eminger. He's got a long reach and takes up alot of space, and is much faster than Eminger.

It's potentially correctable. Myopia, far-sightedness, and astigmatism are (potentially) correctable, but some causes of blurriness are not. Just because your family had their vision corrected, does not mean Staal's can be.

For instance, I'm pretty sure that I read that right now Staal's eye is pretty much permanently dilated. Which means blurriness due to lights. Reshaping the cornea isn't going to help with that.

Mattias Winhandl got a stick in his eye, it never healed and he now has 20% vision. Everything is not possible to restore by surgery.

Staal looked fine for a player having not played for 2 months. He was planning to play earlier in the series but there was an issue with his eye. The issue cleared up so he played. There were a few times(2nd period behind the net and 3rd period when he was in the slot in front of Henrik) he had trouble with the puck at his feet. Is that a matter of timing or is it the eye?

Of course this was different from any game Staal had played previously. The vision in his right eye is still a bit blurry and may never get back to 100 percent.

"I could tell on the ice it's different," said Staal, who played 17:17 for the night.

"You play your whole life with 20-20 vision, and you step out there and things definitely are changed."

Staal admitted he had an issue with the eye last week. Otherwise, he would have tried to play in the first two games of the series, which the Rangers lost.

"The eye was kind of acting up where my vision just wasn't cooperating the way I wanted it to on the ice," he said. "That cleared up the last few days, and I got two good days of practice in and felt comfortable and confident to get out there."

Can the Bergen Record swap Andrew Gross to the Devils beat for Tom Gulitti? The latter is a far superior hockey writer.

so is Powe out with a concussion? Only saw he was woozy. Funny how Asham scored a big goal and if Clowe played he was likely scratched. I assume Clowe is back next game?

Mattias Ohlund had laser eye surgery that set him back a bit.

Laser eye surgery is great for correcting near/farsightedness, but it's hardly a slam dunk cure to correcting vision loss from trauma to the eye.

i hope so... but say if Powe cant go and Clowe is still out, Torts better not put Newbury over Kreider :help::shakehead

New York Rangers forward Ryane Clowe finally got to test himself in some battle drills Tuesday afternoon and said he felt good, but there is still no indication if he is going to play in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals against the Washington Capitals on Wednesday.

...

"I'm not holding out here or anything or trying to save it. There is nothing to save for this time of year," he continued. "But I don't want to end up playing a period or a few shifts and then something happens and you're out again. I want to make sure I'm in, I'm all in when I do go in. I'd like to be able to tell you guys more, but it's just day-to-day how I feel. I did some battle stuff today and I felt pretty good."

What the hell happened to reports from professional ****ing physicians saying he would make a full recovery?

Marc "setback" Staal :sarcasm:

He very well might. When I was playing junior hockey in Sweden many moons ago, I was on the bench (sat a rare game as I was goalie) and got hit in the face by a stick on the ice when a scrum ensured by the bench area. I did not see anything for 3 days, huge swelling, bloody eyeballs and it was a mess. Slowly but surely my right eye ( the most damaged one) got its vision back to somewhat normal but it took months until the blurriness disapaited. Still have impaired vision on one side, but it is easy to live with and cope. Never had any surgery or such.

What I am saying is that it can take some time to get back to getting eyesight that is acceptable in everyday life, let alone top level professional sports, but that it is a time consuming process at times. There is not at all enough time gone by to know if this injury will have a long lasting negative effect on the career of Marc Staal.

I had a corneal transplant 3 years ago which came from a high stick... (no visor) it took me a long time to adjust to everyday lifestyle. .. ie driving, playing hockey...
I had severe blurry vision prior to surgery, marc staal is lucky... glad to see him back on the ice.... with a visor.

Powe's shot blocking and PK are his strengthes, but not much else, Clowe makes us better, if not Kreids speed would be a big plus against there suspect dmen...Green, Hillen...etc...

My favorite moment of the game, Cally hit him like a mack truck...:handclap:

That was amazing. Erskine is one of those guys you hate to play against but I'd love to have on the Rangers. Hoping McIlrath can be that guy for us some day.

Cally's not done with him either, same for Green

this looks right to me. Although Torts may move up Boyle during the game instead of Pyatt. Kreider wont play

We can hope Clowe goes at it with the sort of attitude we'd expect from a guy gunning for a big contract.
