Thanks very much for the help all! Even the Holiday Inn is sold out now so I think we're going to be staying further away and driving.

Edit: Actually, how is cab service in Buffalo? I'm finding some hotels about 4-5 miles away, so they're close but not walking distance and they don't look like they're on the Metro line. I'd rather pay for a cab and let someone else do the driving than worry about driving/parking. Do you guys have Uber & Lyft there?

A quick Google search confirms that we unfortunately don't have either Uber or Lyft. Likewise, all of the hotels downtown look to be booked solid that night. You might no choice but to book a hotel in one of the suburbs (Cheektowaga would probably be the closest).

Parking is $8 under the One Seneca Tower. If you have 10 guys going in 2 cars... That's dirt cheap bro. The tower is literally a 5 min walk to the arena. Just a thought.

My bad. In my defense, I actually did google. I didn't see anything for Uber but apparently there was Lyft at one point but it's been "paused." We had a similar thing happen here in Pittsburgh but they went to court and won the right to continue, so I was hoping that maybe it was the same for Buffalo. Anyway, tl;dr, thanks for the Cheektowaga suggestion.

Good suggestion, thanks. I was more thinking about not wanting to need to have a designated driver if we want to go to the bar after the game, but we'll do whatever we need to do.

There are a lot of illegal taxis running around the city...The two biggest culprits are the two largest companies - Liberty and Buffalo Transportation...I would avoid them....

I highly recommend Bison Taxi....It is run by some honest Christian guys and you won't get ripped off....716-848-9484

they also have a website... www.bisontaxi.com

Lyft got banned because they were operating illegally by openly violating city ordinance...So they have been shut down....

I don't believe Uber operates here.

the taxis line up outside the arena to take people to the bars, etc....If all the taxis end up getting taken you would need not worry...they come back, and will make sure everyone gets picked up...There's too many taxis in the city, and they are hungry for fares, lol.

I suggest you try the Buffalo Hilton Garden on Main St. It's brand new - so new that I'll bet no one knows it's there/open. Not sure of your budget, but I saw rooms for $169 a night.

It's located across from Lafayette Square - which is on the free section of the metro rail.

Here's a link to a story about it:

They are having a soft opening now and are accepting online reservations for the period starting November 10 - so you might be able to get a deal.... or at least a room

Here's a link to the hotel. You'll have to call for a reservation - 716-848-1000

So work required me to move from Ottawa to Fort Erie a few months ago, and I'm going to my first Sabres game tomorrow. Although I'm a diehard Sens fan, I'm the kind of guy that likes to cheer for the hometown team and see myself adopting Buffalo as my second team fairly quickly. I hope to get in a bunch of games this year.

Anyways, my question is this, what's the parking situation like at the stadium? is it fairly easy to access and available? I'm crossing the Peace Bridge so my car is a necessity. If this has been gone over a million times already then my bad. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Read post #503 :dunno:

Also, I have season tickets and selling a bunch of games, Sens included. PM me if interested in talking about it.

Looking for 7 tickets on December 13th game vs the panthers. Cheapest tickets we can find are the $49 family packs which are decent seats in the 300s with a hot dog, drink, popcorn.

Stubhub and the others don't seem to be cheaper. Any hookups here - should be a crappy game, demand wise, so hoping for a better price than the $49 for the 7 tickets.

Also, coming down for the Bills game the next day and they are putting us up at the Red Roof Inn - how bad is it??

Thanks!

Hey guys. Which side is the visiting team on? Section 104 or 106? Thanks in advance.
The opposition bench or short change is in the Sabres-shoot-twice end, so 106.

Hey guys !

Sorry if it was answered already, didn't want to go through all the posts and years.

I'm from Gatineau, Qc, just outside of Ottawa (Habs fan) and planning a trip to Buffalo with 4 friends (24-27yrs old) on the weekend of November 28-30. Already purchased the tickets for the Canadiens-Sabres game on friday night, then the Sabres are playing the Canadiens in Montreal on saturday night wich we would like to watch in a sports bar. And to close the weekend, we have tickets for the Browns-Bills game on sunday afternoon.

Where should we go out at night ?
Whick sports bar is the best one to go watch a Sabres game ?
We were thinking about going to Niagara falls saturday, something else we have to see ?
Can we wear our Habs jerseys without getting in trouble ?
Do we ask for buffalo wings or simply wings ?

Thanks !

1) The Chippewa strip is probably your best best given your age group. There's also a Growing # of bars within walking distance of the arena.
2) Pearl Street Brewery (not far from arena) is a great place to watch a Sabres game. But, 716 at Harbor Center across the street from the Arena seems to be about ready to set the standard for best place to watch a hockey game. It opens next week. So it should be in full swing by the time you get here.
3) Falls are ok, I'm not suer touristy oriented, I'll leave this to others.
4) there will be lots of Habs jerseys in attendance, no problems. Maybe some verbal back and forth. But, I've only seen anything physical at the arena.
5) Wings. But, they'll know what you mean. I recommend Gabriels gate in Allentown.

Where are you staying?

Thanks for the information Rebuild. Really helpful !

We're staying at Comfort suites downtown on main st. At +/- 125$ a night for a suite, I pressed on "reserve" right away !

Hello. Coming to Buffalo to see the countries "second biggest ball drop" on New Years eve. Also catching the Sabres/Bolts game that starts at 6pm, staying at the downtown Hyatt (Two Fountain Plaza).

My question is, and from reading this thread I think I have the answer, is there a Metro/light rail type of transportation that runs from the Hyatt to the arena?

Traveling with two kids so really want to have a solid plan. ;)

Thanks in advance for the help.

there is also a city taxi stand in front of the Hyatt...99% of the time there are cabs there....Taxi to the arena is less than $10....cabs will also be outside the arena after the game

(just make sure your fare is on the meter, and you'll be OK...If the cabbie tries talking you into a flat rate, or telling you there is a flat rate he is lying - all fares inside the city limits are on the meter)

Can't speak to the Adams Mark, but the new bar at the HarborCenter right across from the arena (716) is supposed to be pretty sweet.

The hotel is okay. Not great, not bad. Adam's Mark used to be a pretty upscale hotel chain - but the one in Buffalo is the last hotel to carry the name. By accounts I've heard - it's past its prime - but still serviceable.

For entertainment, you have a ton of options at your disposal. Right around the arena there are a lot of bars for pre and post game. The above referenced bar/restaurant -716 - probably headlines them. 716 is the area code for the Buffalo area, btw. It's brand new, very nice, has a huge video screen and will likely be packed by game time. In the immediate arena area/the Cobblestone district there's Lagerhaus 95, Ironworks, and Cobblestone. All are bars with food for before and after the game. Ironworks has live music on some nights. There's a comedy club in that area called Helium. Just a block or so beyond is the Seneca Creek Casino if gambling is your thing.

Pearl St Grill and Brewery is also very close to the arena, though not in the same cluster of bars in the Cobblestone District. It's on Main and Seneca (I think). You can't miss it as it dominates that area. Also a great place with food for before and after the game. It's about 5 minute walk max to the arena.

If you want to venture out a little further, you can hop on the Metro Rail - free for the above ground sections - and head up Main to Chippewa St. There's a lot of bars on that street - most of which cater to a younger crowd. I'm way above that age group so I don't have any specific recommendations - but if you read through this thread or do an internet search you'll find some.

A little further up Main is Allen St - which has a lot of nice places to eat and hang out. I think you might have to pay to get there though as the Allen St station is the first station you'd reach on the underground portion of the metro rail. Gabriels Gate (wings), Don Tequila and Cantina Loco (Mexican), Colter Bay, Fat Bob's (Barbecue) are a few that come to mind. Nietzches and Allen St Hardware are a couple of place I know for sure have music. There are probably others.

Why are people so high on Gabriels gate for wings. They literally just fry them and put butter and Frank's on them. Nothing inherently wrong with that but the atmosphere in there isn't amazing and the beer selection is severely lacking.

Lots of great info in this thread!

Question from an outside fan. I called 716 about reservations for next Saturday's Sabres/Flyers game. Turns out they are just starting to take reservations but the first day they are doing this is on the 19th.

From your experience, at what time does this place fill up on weekends? I had planned on booking at 4:30 for 4 people so we can have a few and still catch the warmups.

I assume as well that Pearl Street Brewery is taking a hit with 716 opening. We've always gone there in the past but wouldn't mind trying 716 if at all possible.

Any info would be great!
