C'mon, dude mahn (said with a Russian-Jamaican accent)!
What is the first rule of holes?
When you're in one, stop digging.
Being annoyed by Kyrou early in his Blues career is understandable, but he took a huge step last season toward a more complete game and his demeanor so far this season is on another level.
Someone mentioned the way Kyrou is carrying himself in these first few games. It's different. There's a quiet confidence developing, which has always been there, but he's maturing.
I agree that Kyrou seems to be playing with more purpose and confidence this season. He played better in actually putting in a lot of effort to improve his defence and his play without the puck last season, and it looks like he's moved up into another level in those areas, and also setting up his linemates and shiftmates this season (so far). I fully expect him to score 40+ goals and 80+ points this season. He's assessing(reading) plays better, and looking to pass to his linemates when he isn't free enough to get off a good shot, or they'll have a better chance to score than he will.
Some people think that players don't improve their "hockey sense" several years into their career. But I know from my own experience that putting in hard work paying attention to what's happening on the ice , after some years the experience becomes instinctive after X- number of games, and it can sometimes "click in" later than usual in a "late bloomer". I'm hoping that's what's happening with Kyrou, who has always had great speed, and counted on it too much to carry him through, when less fortunate players took to coaching better and became "students of the game" earlier, because they were less athletically gifted.
I hope that the playing Buchnevich at centre experiment works well, and he and Kyrou can team with another scoring winger to form a good scoring line, and 2 good-scoring wingers can skate with Thomas, so The Blues will have 2 solid NHL playoff-Level scoring lines. They will be helped by Bolduc, and I hope Neighbours can continue to score goals like last season, but also can set up his linemates a lot better. Saad will return soon, but both he and Schenn are on the decline. I'd like to see an injection of more high scoring youth, before Snuggeruud arrives and Dvorsky comes up to Centre The 3rd Line. It will be interesting to see how The Blues' forward lines shake out this season.
