We've all seen a ton of bad and good from him there's zero question can he perform at either of those levels, it's only about consistency consistency consistency consistency. He can't go through long droughts or have gaps during the game where his defense lapses for a few shifts.
What I absolutely need to see from this guy is when his offense is out of rhythm, which it will be for stretches, that he doesn't get frustrated and lapse on the defense. He's not ROR and I'm not expecting him to be, but ROR's attitude is free. When we'd watch ROR we'd see a guy who just focused on all the details every shift who just trusted himself that doing that would leave him in the right position to get points. Sometimes the points come in bunches and sometimes you miss the net for a bit. But you don't look to the heavens (ahem, Robert Thomas) when you miss the net, you accept in advance that missing the net is a thing that happens in hockey and what matters is the immediate moment after that if the puck is still in the rink so get on it.
Kyrou has not turned this corner yet but we are watching to see if he understands it. I want to see a guy who trusts his talent and dials in on the competitiveness night in and night out.
