Is Samsonov going to be back next season ? Probably not. So why not give Hildeby some playing time? See what he can do. Can't be any worse than what Samsonov has provided.
Didn't want Hildeby getting cold.
Let's leave it to those in the organization to determine that. The Leafs have probably the best of the best in all aspects of the game off ice.So a week to 10 days and he is “cured”? I don’t know.
I'm sure they are thinking about all players but I would doubt they are prioritizing Hildeby over Samsonov at this point.Hopefully this is it. If it's more about getting Hildeby some games rather than Samsonov some games I'm fine with that. Based on his play this season Sammy should be the distant back up to Jones.
In fairness the whole point of this place is to discuss our personal takes rather than deferring to what the team has chosen.Let's leave it to those in the organization to determine that. The Leafs have probably the best of the best in all aspects of the game off ice.
Otherwise having the Leafs board making that call would be comical. Don't forget all the "doctors" on here diagnosing the likes of Liljegren and Woll with their injuries by watching replays on TV or YouTube.

No. Samsonov just got himself together enough to be able to sit on the bench. And Hildenby is needed to play for the Marlies. This feels almost exactly like Alek Manoah with the Jays.
You cant fix anything in two weeks.
So who do the Leafs move to let Samsonov see if he can play? They sent Hildeby down to make room. If Samsonov sticks with the Leafs -- which is not very likely -- then they might keep three goalies and waive a defenceman -- most likely Lagesson
.
Since when us the NHL a test case. Hildeby doesn’t get to try? The Leafs need to make a decision on Samsonov, and need to see him play if they think he's ready. Hildeby will get his chance, probably sooner than later.
Samsonov had more failures than success. Debateable. He might still be an NHL-calibre goalie. They don't grow on trees.
If he wasn't being paid 3.5 he would not be in the city. True.
See above comments.Shake his hand, send him to the doctors, come see me in June ???? The playoffs are over, and his contact expires then. The Leafs are probably trying to figure out the best path for the team between now and then.
Probably not. This feels almost exactly like Alek Manoah with the Jays.

Cured is not the right word. They see him every day and think he's better. Can he go back to being a decent NHL goalie? We'll see.So a week to 10 days and he is “cured”? I don’t know.
Fort Hancock, TexasZihuatenejo?
If he can’t deal with the arbitration process, perhaps pro sports in the wrong line of work, seems like a real lame excuseSammy stole game 6 for the Leafs last year. He was the only Leafs goalie to steal an elimination game in a recent history. So, it’s only right to give him a chance. Obviously his agent f.cked him up with the contract and arbitration thing. He wasn’t in the right place to start the year.
For sure. Better start looking at draft prospects now.NO, NO, NO! This is so bad. They are going to miss the playoffs with Samsonov.
They will carry three unless Samsonov continues to struggle. For sure. Better start looking at draft prospects now.
On a seriousness, this only becomes interesting when Will comes back. At that point, unless they want to carry three goalies, someone has to go to the AHL.
Because they have someone doing a fantastic job of filling his spot (and another working his way back from injury), I think this is more like if they had called Manoah up to pitch in low-leverage situations out of the bullpen.Without reading everything said in this thread, I think this is similar to Manoah with the Jays last year. They brought him back way too early, and he crumbled further where he was just unusabel for rest of the year.
