They have to see him in games for the Marlies, no? I have no appetite to see him back with the Leafs, to be honest, at all.

There is no reason to do it at all.

Hildeby is arguably a better #3 at this point, if for no other reason but financial.

Jones has taken Samsonov's job once Woll is back, it's a solid tandem. Just boring plain goaltending that usually works.

I didn’t mean that in a bad way or an attack on Samsonov. He’s clearly battling mental health issues at the moment and it honestly might be better for him to take a step back and really focus on helping himself first before returning into game action. If he comes back in a week or so and continues to struggle, especially in this market, it could make things even worse (hockey aside).

Woll was good prior to injury, Jones has been solid in relief. For what you'd need to spend to upgrade on either in net, it's not worth it.

Woll-Jones is probably it for this year.

Hope we can move Samsonov to utilize the cap elsewhere.

Goaltending is weird year to year, league wide save % is down this year so we're definitely doing better than most.

Even on Overdrive last week, they were talking about how you maybe have 8 go-to sure fire #1 guys in net

Now that I am thinking about it, these guys are it;

Ooettinger
Shesterkin
Sorokin
Vas
Saros
Ullmark/Swayman tandem (could be team or system based results though)

The rest are up and down year to year.

I would make that list even smaller. Remove Vas as he has now been very average for a couple of years. I would also remove Boston's goalies as I think on just about any other team both of them, especially Ullmark, would see a big drop in numbers.

I'd say Vas is having an off year but years prior, he's playing a ton of games for a team that doesn't care that much about the regular season.

I agree that BOS boosts numbers but it's hard to just say the Vezina winner doesn't matter either. In saying that, swap Ullmark and Gustavsson (MIN) and things change for both goalies, agreed.

I think there is some misconception about Jones in Seattle.

Grubauer was their guy, with a rather substantial contract.
It isn't like Grubauer was blowing Jones away statistically, but Jones didn't have that albatross contract.

This year Grubauer is visiting Robidas Spa and Resort while their 27 year old kid runs with it.

In the event it ever needed to, a team requires that secondary option it'd be willing to turn to. Have to wait, see and hope for the best.

If he doesn't they'll adjust.
