SKA only had one more shot than Novokuznetsk in a game where Novokuznetsk gave up 9 goals. I didn't watch the game, but he's facing the same amount of shots as the other goalie, and giving up 8 less goals. It is likely that Shestyorkin faced lesser quality shots.

Considering Novokuznetsk is absolute ****, you might onto something here...

Kind of mad no shut out again. It was fun when it was one SO after another. Anyway, it's now 1.55 and .941 through 35 games and it looks like he's starting over Costco when both are healthy and fresh.

Always expecting those jerseys to look like

GRITZKY seems like a Torts kinda guy.

The Rangers gotta buy out the final year of his KHL contract. One more season after this season. We can't keep having Lundqvist lose us games. We'll probably lose Raanta in the expansion draft anyway.

What does this even mean?

He's insinuating that the 20 year old goalie is going to come over and save the Rangers. Which he won't.

No goalie is going to save the Rangers when the other teams forwards are ****ing camping in the crease roasting weenies on the fire with no resistance.

Hank is not right in the head right now, but the defense is leaving him out to dry disgracefully

Congratulations, you're one of the few members here who actually understand what's going on.

Hahahahahah at the idea of Shesty coming over next year, being the savior and playing at as high a level as Hank the prior decade behind this dumpster fire of a defense. That's a joke, a complete and utter joke. Please tell me that's not a serious opinion.

He's signed over 18/19, right? I don't see why SKA would let him go with 2 years left on his contract so let's just change the subject.

I'd love for him to buyout his contract and come over next year in the backup role (doubt that would make much financial sense for him though). It would give him lots of practice time with Allaire and the NHL big boys and the chance to get his feet wet. He's proven that he can handle high level competition in the KHL so a backup role in the NHL is the next logical step for him and I'd love to see how well he handles himself.

Koskinen has let up 5 goals on 27 shots so far today. Shestyorkin hasn't let up 5 all season, he hasn't even let up 4 since September. He had one game in September and one in August where he let up 4. Its been 3 or less since. Shestyorkin really should be the starter once the playoffs start.

Shestyorkin was listed in the mid-season ESPN Prospect Rankings. He was listed as the #4 goalie.

Gotta wonder if they're resting him up for playoffs and giving him starts here and there to keep him somewhat in gear. Not wear him out with repeated starts right in POs.

SKA is guaranteed a playoff berth, so they can afford to do something like this.

Pronman? Which goalies did he have ahead?

It's just bad coaching at this point to continue playing that backup goalie this much.

With a playoff berth locked in, I don't think it's too much of an issue to cycle your goaltenders to give your starter more rest, especially if they were relied on a lot early in the season.

Yes. Samsonov, Sorokin, Hart in that order. I posted the Shestyorkin blurb in the roster builder thread.

I thought the Shestyorkin blurb seemed the second most impressive one to the Samsonov one. The Sorokin and Hart blurbs made them seem like very safe players, while I thought the Shestyorkin blurb made it seem like he has a lot of upside, along with being pretty good already.
