Yes. Samsonov, Sorokin, Hart in that order. I posted the Shestyorkin blurb in the roster builder thread.

I thought the Shestyorkin blurb seemed the second most impressive one to the Samsonov one. The Sorokin and Hart blurbs made them seem like very safe players, while I thought the Shestyorkin blurb made it seem like he has a lot of upside, along with being pretty good already.

I really don't understand how Hart is ahead of him, actually don't understand Samsonov ahead either, i feel like it's only because of their age.

Shesty and Sorokin are so close that ranking either ahead is fine.

Costco gave up 5 goals on 28 shots today. He played fewer than half as many games as The Czar, but lost almost twice as many games. Shesterkin is said to have an easy job behind a great team, but then how do you explain that he gave up .56 goals less per game and .26% better SV%? That's a massive difference in the wins, losses, GAA and SV% between the 2 guys, and Costco beat out Raanta for a spot on Team Finland.

Lundqvist is clearly not an elite goalie anymore. I don't think anyone except a big time Rangers homer would list him as a top-5 goalie, and very, very few would list him as top-10. He's 36th in GAA and tied 36-38 in SV%. I didn't even know these numbers until just now when I looked it up for this post, but I was certain that his numbers are on par with a backup, not a starter. He simply has not played the way a solid starter has to play.

This is also the age when Mike Richter's game collapsed. He's turning 35 in 6 weeks, so he's not going to suddenly learn new tricks. True, he had struggles in the past, but they never lasted into game 46 from the start of the season. Age is age. Maybe he'll go hot a few more times, but I have my doubts that he will consistently be a top-shelf goalie going forward.

This is why it would be great to bring Shesterkin at least as a backup next year and have him start in 2 years when Lundqvist is 37. I don't know if there's a way to do it, but if there is, expecting Lundqvist to have a Brodeur like late-30s does not seem reasonable at this point.

Hart is not the same size he's 6'2 and under 20 will prob be around 6'3 when he gets to the show.

And yes the others are taller that was the point

Henrik can change his diet and training regime to reflect his age. Brodeur had a few rough years from 2005-2008 but had some decent years after.

You're right, ideally Shestyorkin would be over next season and do the Beezer/Richter thing with Henrik and maybe like Richter, get to play in the first round if he was fully adjusted and fresh. It looks like his first year in NA should be similar to Henrik's 05-06 if he is as adjusted.

Yes. He might be able to be bought out in the final year, which is the '18-'19 season.

Yeah, I don't why anyone thinks he'll just be able to join next season. SKA would have to terminate the contract of the best goalie in the KHL. Why would they do that?

The season after, maybe the final year of his contract could be bought out. I think if Sorokin's final year of his contract is bought out for next season, there's a chance Shestyorkin could do the same thing the year after. It might work with small clubs, I'm not sure it'll work with bigger clubs. If it works with CSKA, it'll probably work with SKA.

Those old enough to remember the 1980s, know that the only franchise anyone outside of Russia ever knew was the CSKA. It's their most storied franchise with Fetisov, Larionov and other superstars there. It used to be the Manchester United of Russian hockey, though now things are more even in the KHL. If buyouts can be done with CSKA, it can be done with any team in the KHL.

Since Koskinen missed so many games early on, Shestyorkin played more games than he usually would. They probably want to give him more rest now, to have him ready for the play offs

The great bonus of Shesterkin playing in the KHL is that their coach prefers vets so Costco will be getting most of the games when he's healthy.

Koskinen has always been their starter, he's just been out for extended periods twice this season (WC and injury). Shestyorkin is heavily outperforming him though so he should be #1 now but i guess the coach is a dinosaur who values experience over anything else.
