I think its big news that he started over Sorokin. Sorokin had gotten the "#1 goalie" starts the last two tournaments before this game. If Shestyorkin is ahead of Sorokin on the depth chart, he might play some games at the World Championship, if he's the back up to Varlamov. If Tampa and Columbus get out of the first round, he could be the back up to Varlamov because Bobrovskiy and Vasilevskiy would still be in the playoffs during the tournament. They could have Khudobin be the back up, but he's really struggled this season, so I doubt it.
I didn't watch this game, but from the highlights, none of the goals seem to have been his fault and the third goal was unlucky that it went in, considering he got the puck with his stick. It hit the post and went in, so he successfully redirected the puck, but just not enough. 31/34 saves, which isn't great, but not terrible.
