Why is the Blue Jackets mascot a bug?


The star on top of the stick signifies Columbus as the state capital. Shortly thereafter, Stinger was introduced as the mascot, the “Bug with an Attitude.” Stinger is a symbol to characterize the citizens of Columbus known for their hard work and pride for their team. A “bug with an attitude.”

I think it’s because Blue Jackets reminded some graphic designer on edibles of Yellow Jackets and she had a lightbulb moment.

What are some names you like besides yeti?

You could do something similar to this , call them the Utah or Salt Lake City Rattlers, and change the arm and bottom stripe to some sort of snake scale design , and make the color more of that copper, black beige color etc..

Turquoise, copper and black with abstract mountain trim is awesome regardless of name and logo.

Well the name, at least. But the colors and designs and all the creative brand assets they produce are all amazing. Like the big reveal videos they did. All their brand content. It’s really elite stuff. It’s as good as you can possibly do with such a stupid name.

If the Yotes end up the Yeti, I hope I can say they same. You have to be 10/10 on everything about the overall brand to overcome such a stupid name.

I need to be saying, I hate the name but man is the look and feel just incredible. That’s how I felt about the Kraken.

Agreed with all of this. It's worked out well for them. But also a big reason I don't want powder blue kits. Seattle is the newest team in the league and have three different shades of blue, maybe four, between their different kits.

I was also thinking there are about 10 or so current teams whose nickname has nothing to do with the city. The only penguins in Pittsburgh are at the zoo.
