I will admit he has cleaned up his act from what I can tell. But still....the smell is still there....like an old taxi.

See what I did there?

I do see what you did there. I think he was mic'd up after they beat Minnesota in the playoffs last year and seemed pretty gracious.

In addition to some other stuff, recently.

It's hard to think of a Blackhawk that is underrated these days.

I think Kane gets a good amount of respect, but the Toews worship kind of brings it to light. If next season Kane put up 90 and Toews put up 55 I feel a lot of people would say Toews had a better season. None of the people being Hawks fans.

If Patrick Kane's last name was Kaneau, Kanesov or Kaneberg and he wasn't American, he'd probably be considered a top 3 NHL player, and maybe even the best right now.

Very under appreciated.

In all honesty when you factor in his high offensive zone start percentages and the fact that he plays with a godly team and has the benefit of not seeing top competition regularly, he might get slightly too much respect.

Love that people always bring the cab incident up. He was what like 18, 19 and did something stupid? He's matured and it shows. Hardest working guy on the Hawks. Always last off the ice during practices. Always putting in the time and work.

There is doing something stupid and there is being charged with second-degree robbery, fourth-degree criminal mischief, and theft of services. People can judge him however they like, he's earned my lack of respect. I don't care how young he was. I was that age too, and maybe did some stupid things but nothing that ever hurt anyone.

This reminds me of that thread someone created during the lockout that said Kane was the best player in the world. I feel like every 4 years or so when Kane gets really hot, his cousins or friends have to come on here and say something ridiculous like this.

Kane is not better than Crosby, Malkin or Stamkos and guys like Ovechkin, Giroux and Seguin are currently better than him too. Being American has nothing to do with it and he'd have a hard time making a top 10 forwards list in the league let alone being a top 10 player.

Yeah, we've all been young and beaten up a cab driver in a drunken stupor. Give me a break.

On topic I think he gets the respect he deserves. No more, no less.

I agree that he has changed alot but just because he was young that doesn't mean he can just do whatever he wants

You punch one cabby and nobody wants to spend a moment of their day to talk about you.

It's a shame really.

I believe he was 21?

Just the same - Kane gets lots of respect, probably about as much as he deserves.

He's just unlucky because he plays with Toews who gets an unfair share of the credit for team accomplishments. I don't think it's a nationality thing

He would get more respect if he didn't look like a scrawny 20 year old. Also, beating cabbies.

I'm Canadian and Kane is the most exciting player in the league. By far my favourite player too. And it doesn't matter that he's American or Canadian or any other nationality.

If he played on an eastern conference or Canadian team I think he'd get more love. American teams in the west tend to be an after thought until the playoffs.

Everyone knows who's good - but there is little actual focus on the teams.

Persecution complexes are unbecoming.

One doubts (knows) that Patrick Kane does not suffer from one.

Why would a fan suffer from one, on his behalf?

Anyone with with a modicum of hockey IQ know the guy is elite...and he is a certifiable champion. No need for more adulation.
