Why wouldn't they 'care about a cup'?
That's always made no sense to me.
They wouldn’t care because they don’t seem interested in doing what it takes to get themselves a cup.
Think about it like this, you want to be the CEO of your company, you think you’d make better decisions, you’d pay your employees better and you’d make a lot more money.
However, you don’t go to university and become a master of finance, you don’t become a lawyer first, you don’t have any interest in going to night school, or finding a path to get to your ‘goal’ of being the CEO of your company.
Because it’s too much work.
Sure, you ‘care’ about all these things, like getting a better job and making your company a better place to work, but when you look at yourself in the mirro, can you say you
really care if you’re not willing to put all the work into it to get there?
That’s the leafs. They care, with a lower case ‘c’. They care the same way we care to win the lottery. They care in a very passive and wishful way.
Sure they’d like to win the cup, but they don’t Care with a capital ‘C’, because winning the cup is hard and you have to do things to get there that these players aren’t willing to do.
You don’t win a Stanley cup playing the way the maple leafs play. If they actually cared, they’d play like Vegas, or Boston, or Tampa, Florida, etc
