If it's not Jack Campbell who should be the Leafs new #1 goalie?

Campbell at 5x5 is not an upgrade. By Feb they will be crying as he implodes. What will happen with Edmonton media which are just as bad as here? When he is plan A, will he lose his starting job to Skinner? And then they have a 5 million backup?

Giving Campbell that contract is setting him up to fail.

I think Campbell is 99% gone.

I said in year 2 of the first round failures, but how many years would be enough to say - I don’t care if they 160 regular season points, start winning games when it counts abs when opponents are bringing max effort, every shift, every night.

Someone say a number of years where you’ll finally have enough?

I can’t understand how people saw the sort of victory thst the team won in game 5 in the Tampa series and still think that sort of courage can be measured by stats and graphs. That win in game 5 had little to do with measurable skill, and everything to do with will and desire. More of that, less if people who have no understanding of the game as it’s played on ice.

AM34 is a US born player playing in a league that is trying to grow a US audience and operating in states that have better tax structures. Everyone from US fans to Gary Bettman himself would cheer on AM34 in a US market to get attendance up. That's the cold truth of the matter, pressure will be on AM34 to leave and if we don't have a damn good TB style winning atmosphere here, he's gone.

To be fair, Murray plays In front of an absolute tire fire of a defensive team, just putrid. That said, it’s a real risk to think he’s your guy to win a cup at this stage. Seems more riskier than bringing Campbell back, that in and of itself doesn’t radiate great “plan”. And the backup is a massive question mark, smallest of sample sizes aren’t much comfort.

Makes me nervous.

Exactly this. And I refer to Kyle Dubas as skinny Dave Nonis. They are essentially the same level of incompetence though one was gifted a bunch of star players.

He's worth a punt if he's bought out and our 1b

Banking on him even as the 1a in a tandem is a gamble

Murray is such an interesting goalie. Amazing resume. Used to be really good and since being on the senators, his numbers were average.

He is still relatively young and in his prime. Since goalies are voodoo, there is a chance he can bounce back. It’s hard to predict anything but if Leafs pick up Murray, I hope he can get back to his old form, or very close.

I’m open minded about this, I don’t think we have much choice anyways.

Left field but... I wouldn't be at all surprised that Shanahan started making choices based on Bell/Rogers/Larry T. direction. It may sound wild but I can't imagine Shanny doing all that's happened. Lou + Babcock was Shanny, after that is suspect.

yeah Absolutely you are correct The Leafs will need to prioritize this if the deal goes through. I thought the issue with Holland and Dubas was the round of pick going back to Tor, they couldn't agree and Hyman left regardless which worked out nice for EDM anyways.
