Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. Just when I was ready to throw in the towel the Blues FINALLY are realizing their potential and have put a decent stretch together here. The third line looks competent all of a sudden and the veteran smooth skating d core is playing good defense and providing offense.
Broberg Faulk pairing finally looks like it did at the beginning of the season and Fowler Parayko have been killing it, Leddy Suter is a super reliable 3rd pair. I think missing Leddy for so long really hurt the team overall.
And since Binner won the 4 Nations tourney he’s re awakened his ability to God mode. I excited for this team again Army’s vision is finally starting to come together. I hope its not too little too late but at least we get watch meaningful hockey again.

We don't have the forward/center talent and depth to make a serious run.The d-core and goalie are giving me strong 2019 vibes...
They could 100% knock out a team, MAYBE two if they are lucky.
But they are not winning more than that. I doubt they make the playoffs still. Too much ground to make up. Unless Colorado absolutely tanks and opens another WC spot for the taking, they will fall short by 4-8pts IMO

This run is absolutely fantastic ... for 2025-26.
They are building a great core into next season and with a couple of kids added (Stenberg, Dvorsky, Snuggerud) and maybe a free agent RHD should be a solid team next year.
Don't trade anyone - and don't trade for anyone. As someone said, Armstrong's vision for the future is coming together. Fowler was a great pickup and he's got a few years left. Parayko has emerged as a true No. 1 d-man. Schenn's leadership makes him a core piece. Kyrou has become an all-round much better player. And the goaltending is now rock solid. Holloway and Broberg were great additions, brilliant use of the offer sheet.
Very enthused about the immediate and long-term future, but no playoffs this year and that's okay.

I mean, he's not wrong. Really only one wild card spot is attainable realistically and we will be fighting 3-4 other teams who all have games in hand on us (and we are behind them in points). Maybe if we go on a run like 2019 and string together a massive amount of wins, Maybe. My magic 8 ball is telling me "very doubtful".
Don't get me wrong, I love watching the team win and gel under Monty like they are. Watching our young talent develop and progress is encouraging for next year. Seeing the depth in our current veteran D core produce and provide quality defense is really enjoyable.
We are still sellers at the deadline and i hope we can still pick in the top 10 when everything is said and done this year.

I guess every year from here on out when we're close to the bottom mid-season and go on a 3 game win streak, we're gonna have to suffer through half of twitter, youtube, and a few on this board thinking "im getting 2019 vibes".
That 2019 team was built to win the cup, this team is built to at best make a final playoff spot while our prospects cook a lil bit. Huge difference in the state of the roster/franchise.

This is an absolute fallacy. After his penalty last night, he has exactly 6 minor penalties in 60 games. For comparison, Thomas has 9 minor penalties in 48 games. You would think someone who desperately wants everyone to think they are “always right” would at least do a minimal amount of research.

I doubt Colorado that tanks, but Minnesota could be in trouble. They may be without Kaprisov and Eriksson Ek. Their team has dealt with injuries all season and they're starting to look worn down. They were atrocious last night against Utah. They were carried by Filip Gustavsson early in the season but he's come back down to earth as well.
I wouldn't be at all shocked to see them end up falling apart and I'd bet a lot of money that Colorado grabs that 3rd spot in the Central before the end of next week.
The Alberta boys led us to victory last night. All goal scorers had ties to the province.

That would be one heck of a fall for Minny (and some streaky winning from the Blues) for us to make up 10 points over 22 games. Not gonna happen. We can't catch Colorado either. One WC spot is up for grabs and lots of teams hoping for it.

It's not necessarily going to be the Blues, but I don't think the Wild are as safe as you think they are. They're 7 points away from being out of the playoffs with 23 games remaining and basing this on what I've seen in their games I've seen in recent weeks, I wouldn't be surprised to see that team hit a 2-8 or 3-7 rut at some point before the end of the season. They're hurt and they're gassed and the one thing propping them up early this season, their goaltending play, has slipped quite a bit.
They've got Colorado on a B2B tonight and I can't see that going well.

Nah, I wanna keep Schenn for now. Plus, there is that whole NTC thing. He's benefited from playing with Kyrou and Holloway but you have to give him some credit as well.

Schenn is playing like a 50 point player which is much better than how he started the season at a ~35 point player. For him, I think he needs to work on consistency even at his older age - he's always been streaky, but the older he gets, the longer his droughts are. Right now he is looking quite good.
Unless we are getting blown away by an offer, I think I would elect not to trade him. I can see both sides of the argument, but I think he provides good leadership and is more of the grinder type leader than guys like O'Reilly and Petro were. For this group, I think that helps and sets up an identity that fits much better with the Blues.
As far as players coming in, you hope your prospects can provide an immediate impact. Guys like Dvorsky and Snuggerud hopefully can come in and right out of the gate score 45-50 points. Granted, Cooley was a #3 overall, but I think this group has better potential to help those guys vs what the Coyotes/UHC have. I think it's possible Joseph gets moved, but I'm like 30/70 on that thought. Faksa could be resigned since he's a reliable 4th line center and can stabilize that line; Sunny I'm not sure on. I think you'd be hard pressed to convince me that Kaskimaki couldn't fill Joseph's role here. I hope Krug is traded but that's a tall task. I would've said trade Faulk, but he has played much better after the break.
