While true there isn't much else out there. With the rumor that Keumper probably going to Washington the Leafs are left with Campbell or going the trade route.Last season was a huge red flag as far as Campbell is concerned. He has no business being rated as a top UFA goalie, as his resume does not support it whatsoever.
I was hesitant to bring him back at a discount, but to get into a bidding war with Edmonton over his services would be insane.
He was statistically among the worst goaltenders in the NHL for several months last season, remember that.
None of those are an upgrade. It's just more of the same.I think they'll work on getting Campbell at a reasonable number before free agency starts.
Once he makes it to UFA, they will swing a trade for first Talbot, if no deal there Gibson. Murray will be the last resort.
Then we should go the trade route and acquire a goaltender that can make a save in overtime in the playoffs. While true there isn't much else out there. With the rumor that Keumper probably going to Washington the Leafs are left with Campbell or going the trade route.

Even the ones that possibly are available by trade aren't an upgrade either. Gibson is not an upgrade and neither is Murray. I would even say Blackwood isn't either. They have backed themselves into a corner. Then we should go the trade route and acquire a goaltender that can make a save in overtime in the playoffs.

"Running it Back - 2022/2023" T-Shirts will be hot items at Real Sports this fall.
I simply think there are more goalies available than most are saying and Dubas’ comments last night support that claim.
I am not sure the starter on day 1 is going to be one of the names being thrown around.
Gibson would definitely be an upgrade. His track record supports that. He probably just needs a change of scenery at this point of his career.Even the ones that possibly are available by trade aren't an upgrade either. Gibson is not an upgrade and neither is Murray. Agree. Things to consider, he will cost more cap wise and you lose assets, which brings me back to Campbell. Gibson is the best alternative though, the team in front of him has been a tire fire, I don’t extrapolate much from that. You could make a similar argument for Murray with that absolutely awful defensive team in Ottawa, but it still seems more a risk he returns to any decent form.Gibson would definitely be an upgrade. “Seemed handcuffed “?…..leafs ARE handcuffed
I guess if they made some ballsy moves/trades they might not be as handcuffed as "WE" think. Problem is I don't feel Dubas has or would show that type of flex that it takes now does he want to rock the whole boat when he feels 1) in need of a goalie and tweek from there. I really don't mind the whole team in general but he did handcuff himself early on and is stickin with it.

The problem with that is, that early last year Jack was lights out and everyone wanted to throw a big long term contract at him. Then a long stretch of lousy play followed, until he finally settled down a bit. Leafs correctly wanted to see a full season out of him first.I remember raising the issue of Jack becoming a UFA early last year and being ripped by the Minister of Defence and Propaganda and here we are today with no goalies and talking about acquiring Matt Murray. Didn't check to see what the good Minister thinks about this desperation.

I am thinking Dubas re-signs Campbell now that Mrazek is out.
I can respect that.Yes, Dubas is building a great team to lose in 7 games to Tampa with next year. I know that the goaltending options are not plentiful, but he is still really planning on running the same team back.

Looks that way. Very discouraging as a fan. The team is clearly not good enough.
