If it's not Jack Campbell who should be the Leafs new #1 goalie?

I hope it's Jack but I think Edmonton has us beat in what they can give him in money, and they're probably fine giving him more term too.

I'm really hoping its not Murray, I'd honestly rather Reimer/Talbot than Murray at this point.

If this somehow ends up where Ottawa doesn't have to retain on Murray they'll throw a parade

If they get an asset there will be a statue of Dorian

Ottenger would be a long shot, but what would be a guess as to contract and trade package to get him?
We'd have to offer sheet him

Everyone has forgotten about Bobrovsky. He would have to waive his MNC and Florida would have to retain 50%, but he may well be the best option. (He does have two Vezina trophies.) Florida currently has $750,000 in cap space with a 19 player roster. They need to do something.
Definitely has the skill and intrigue, I worry about the length of his deal remaining

There already aren't many options left out there. I'm worried Dubas is going to be the last GM to find his guy and will be forced to pay more for a worse goalie. Settling for someone like Murray will be a disaster. I also think having an overpaid Campbell/Kuemper on the books when we need to re-sign Matthews/Nylander will be a nightmare.

1) Keumper - Eye don't like it.

2) Fleury pucked up with his choice, lol,.... and now with this Krill stuff going on maybe their best player doesn't hit the ice. (unknown huge factor)

3) Gibson if available would be a good option for Dubas (and our team as far as a #1 starter goes) Once again though we'd have to clear more space via a trade.

4) Murray- Dubas better pass just for the fact that Murray gets injured too much and I can't see Ottawa retaining enough money for Murray to become a back-up. I don't give 2 shats if he played for the SOO,...This is Toronto, not the f'n Soo Dubas so stop hammering that nail please and thank-you.

5) Blackwood would be a solid choice just for starters either to be a back - up or for a tandem with say Gibson/Talbot/Holtby ect,.... and may be the target that strikes first

6) Soup kinda let me down with the unknown head space he got into last year and even though he is likeable theres just a gut feeling that something went weird and we don't want to be in that same position if it is already a "known Learn't Behaviour" management may now conclude towards.

7) There shouldn't be 7 f'n points.
We should have a solid Goalie in place and this looks ugly. Dubas better have that "ICING on the Cake Moment".//I want him to have that just for the teams sake, but there is so many things moving this year with potential players that could help us go over the top imo ( E Kane/P Kane/ possible Tkachuk ect...)

8) Instead of Go Leafs Go, we need to add some letters ...a,l,i,e,s "GOalies Leafs GOalies"

*rolling fingerwaiting taps

Trying to be cool? Who's the one with a hat brand as their username lol. But nice try.

Back to the point. Yes, a soft deal for Blackwood. He's requested a trade out, New Jersey had already said he's available, they just traded for Vanecek. I can see maybe a B prospect with 2nd Round Pick being enough for Blackwood.
What is a soft deal though lol??? That’s not a thing…

Lol how do the leafs get either or the Kane’s or tkachuk.

If we had the slightest bit of wiggle room cap wise Husso was doable. I can't express how much I hate this management team.

I think it's like a soft goal. One that slipped through the old five hole and you'd like to have back. Like trading a first round pick for 10 games of a broken down old grinder with a bad back kind of deal.

My point was,...We don't because we don't have that space and almost seem handcuffed in a sense with the little cap space we have right now.
“Seemed handcuffed “?…..leafs ARE handcuffed

1) Keumper - AGREED. Stay away from goalies with eye problems.

3) Gibson - Home run swing but I am kind of talking myself in to this. They need to make a "cup or go home" kind of move. And he's prolly the only one of those on the list.

4) Murray- Stay. The. Hell. Away. Guy is a wreck!

5) Blackwood - Reclamation project i dont mind as a backup, good to add talent into the system.

6) Soup - Career elite backup and average starter, he's not the guy to get us over the hump.

To add in:
Husso - IF he can be got at the 4mill range could be a great addition.
Samsonov - Really good goaltender but Lou trading with Kyle is probably awkward.
Helley - if it was even a possibility would be my top option.

Husso signed with Detroit post trade . I'd be happier with Gibson, Varlamov, Kuemper and Talbot than going back to Soup. But I agree Husso might have been the smartest investment given age and upside.

Pass on Gibson. 6.4M for the next 5 years on a guy that has been declining, yeah.. no thanks.. his playoff stats aren't even stellar for that kind of money. The guy is a 4M goalie at best. My opinion is they just sign Campbell again, because Kuemper is not the answer and will probably cost more.

ah crap i didnt see that. SIGH.

I wonder if we will see the return of Harri Sateri this offseason?
I am prepared to go into next season with a Blackwood/Sateri duo.
I really like the idea of betting on Blackwood. I would like to have a more established goalie going into what could be one of the last years the Leafs will be a true contender, but with the lack of cap space, we are most likely going to have to roll the dice this year with a less expensive option.

Among the prime trade considerations is Ottawa’s Matt Murray, who nixed a potential deal to Buffalo on Wednesday by refusing to waive a 10-team no-trade clause. The Senators were going to be retaining some of Murray’s $6.25 million cap hit in that proposed move and would presumably be willing to do the same in a transaction with Toronto.

Plus Murray is open to joining the Leafs and has a history with Dubas dating to their time together with the OHL’s Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. His childhood goaltending instructor, Jon Elkin, now has a job in player development with Toronto, too.

There is also a developing situation worth monitoring in Minnesota, where Cam Talbot is believed to be unhappy after Marc-Andre Fleury signed a $7-million, two-year deal to return to the Wild.

......................

Late Friday morning, Husso also went off the board when the Blues traded his rights to the Red Wings, and the 27-year-old agreed to a three-year deal with Detroit, carrying a $4.75 million AAV.

The math doesn’t add up with the list of teams looking for that kind of player sitting at four minimum: Toronto, Edmonton, New Jersey and Washington.

“The goalie market’s pretty tricky right now,” said Guerin.

Toronto is ideally looking to find two serviceable options with roughly $10 million in available space and new contracts still needed for Rasmus Sandin, Ondřej Kaše and Pierre Engvall.

The team finds itself with competition on Campbell, who is believed to be a top target for the Oilers in free agency.
Edmonton GM Ken Holland has money to spend, too, after trading Zack Kassian to Arizona on Thursday and potentially freeing up another $5.5 million with Duncan Keith likely to retire.

Kuemper’s ask is going to be steep after a Stanley Cup win with the Avalanche. He’s looking for something similar to what former teammate Philipp Grubauer got last summer from Seattle — six years at an eye-popping $5.9 million per — and that’s a big pill for the Leafs to swallow.

Still, at least the Leafs can work their way into the mix with any of those players.

So the goaltending situation is far from certain, though moves made at the draft redefined the market heading into next week’s free agency. The Detroit Red Wings sent the 73rd pick to St. Louis for goaltender Ville Husso, then signed him to a long-term deal. The Devils traded with Washington to pick up Vitek Vanecek.

The Leafs have kept the lines of communication open with Campbell and his representatives and are likely to talk next week.
Dubas created some salary-cap space by trading Petr Mrázek, a disappointment in his one year in Toronto.

Campbell and Stanley Cup champion goalie Darcy Kuemper are the biggest targets heading to free agency, with the Leafs and Edmonton both clearing enough salary cap space to sign one or the other, though trade targets like Ottawa’s Matt Murray and Anaheim’s John Gibson remain in play. Buffalo and Montreal also could be in the market for starting goalies.

I do find it hard to believe dubas would trade mrazek and end up with no one.

I wonder if Toronto could convince ottawa to buyout Murray and then take one some 1 way deals that they don’t want?

Ie. Murray at 50% is owed 7.5 million from ottawa. 7.5 million from Toronto with 3.125 hit over 2 years.

Buyout is 10 million. So you have to make up the 2.5 million

Why not agree to take on delzotto. To make up the difference.

Ottawa buys out Murray. Toronto signs hui. For 1.5. Bury delzotto and you have Murray at 2.5 for this year abs 1.5 the next.
Takes on
