I clearly stated playoffs.57 regular season games and 16 playoff games for Kuemper. Please explain to me how that's a tandem?
They should be able to pay him an AAV of 4.75 for no more than 4 yrs with a 10 million signing bonus( or whatever is allowed in the CBA.)Given the way things are shaking out, I’d push hard to get Campbell back now. We desperately need to firm up the position, he’s adequate as a 1, the team likes him and the other options aren’t that attractive, cap wise too. Just bring Jack back, a slight overpay is better than uncertainty.
Oilers can offer a lot more than that, and will. Campbell will go to the highest bidder considering his career earnings to this stage. He would probably prefer a (somewhat) quieter market anyways, and gets to follow Hyman there. They should be able to pay him an AAV of 4.75 for no more than 4 yrs with a 10 million signing bonus( or whatever is allowed in the CBA.)
If Price isn’t sound, that’s the best option.
Via free agency, there’s only 2 goalies left and 3 teams looking. I don’t want to be the team that’s left without a dance partner, otherwise we’ll have to go the trade route and any goalie worth his salt will be expensive.
I get that, but I’m not sure he’s going get much more than that. He may get more term in Edmonton but Id be leery of going too long.Oilers can offer a lot more than that, and will. Who did he play for? Never heard of Eklund. Hockey people who have been around Leafs/Marlies/pro hockey before you were even born. We know what is going on. Some of us have a lot more influence then you might realize.
I wouldn't touch Keumper. The report is that he needed eye procedures everyday because he could barely see in the finals. If this is a recurring thing....he's done.
I would go big or go home.
where are these gibson rumours coming from? i haven’t seen any?
I like Campbell the person but not the goalie. I’d be fine with Talbot or Kuemper.
If they get off the pot they may not make the playoffs. We either need to shit or get off the pot goal tending wise
Get a number one or get an avg to below avg dude for like 1.5 mil and invest it into D or scoring
Spending 4/5 mil on two average goalies is dumb imo. Giving up assets to roll with Matt Murray and someone else as a tandem is idiotic.
Don't go the middle rout to get middle results get a guy or go all in on your goalies are luck philosophy

i see. i had just tuned in and thought i missed something. agree with your thoughts too. i also remember hearing that gibson had said recently he was fine with sticking around for a rebuild. sounds like a guy who is firmly implanted. One of the media guys a few weeks ago indicated the Leafs had inquired about Gibson in the past and it's sort of gone off from there.
I can see a potential for a deal here. BUT I suspect there's going to be a discrepancy between how he's valued by the Ducks vs leafs.
I am preparing for Campbell/Murray, don’t hate it but really wanted Gibson.
Matthews or Marner.Ottenger would be a long shot, but what would be a guess as to contract and trade package to get him?

Murray is a mess... he was supposed to come into last season with a new coach, they identified some issues and he was ready to go. Didn't happen... he is closer to retirement than he is to winning his winning NHL season.. awful awful. As per Lebrun, sounds like Kuemper is bound for Washington as I thought, then Edmonton and Toronto will fight over Campbell (yikes), with Edmonton being able to outbid us, and then the loser (us) will get Murray.
To be honest, though, I think Murray is a decent option to rebound, as long as he can stay healthy. Can he win us a Cup? Nope, but hey expectations have been lowered since Dubas took over, and we just need to make baby steps with our baby GM.
