If it's not Jack Campbell who should be the Leafs new #1 goalie?

I like Campbell the person but not the goalie. I’d be fine with Talbot or Kuemper.

57 regular season games and 16 playoff games for Kuemper. Please explain to me how that's a tandem?
I clearly stated playoffs.

16 for Kuemp
7 for Francouz

Both put up absolutely awful numbers. Yet Colorado still won with replacement level goaltending.

Given the way things are shaking out, I’d push hard to get Campbell back now. We desperately need to firm up the position, he’s adequate as a 1, the team likes him and the other options aren’t that attractive, cap wise too. Just bring Jack back, a slight overpay is better than uncertainty.
They should be able to pay him an AAV of 4.75 for no more than 4 yrs with a 10 million signing bonus( or whatever is allowed in the CBA.)

If Price isn’t sound, that’s the best option.

We either need to shit or get off the pot goal tending wise

Get a number one or get an avg to below avg dude for like 1.5 mil and invest it into D or scoring

Spending 4/5 mil on two average goalies is dumb imo. Giving up assets to roll with Matt Murray and someone else as a tandem is idiotic.

Don't go the middle rout to get middle results get a guy or go all in on your goalies are luck philosophy

Oilers can offer a lot more than that, and will. Campbell will go to the highest bidder considering his career earnings to this stage. He would probably prefer a (somewhat) quieter market anyways, and gets to follow Hyman there.

Via free agency, there’s only 2 goalies left and 3 teams looking. I don’t want to be the team that’s left without a dance partner, otherwise we’ll have to go the trade route and any goalie worth his salt will be expensive.

Why trade may end up being the pathy they go down for their new goaliesn

I get that, but I’m not sure he’s going get much more than that. He may get more term in Edmonton but Id be leery of going too long.

Who did he play for? Never heard of Eklund. Hockey people who have been around Leafs/Marlies/pro hockey before you were even born. We know what is going on. Some of us have a lot more influence then you might realize.

First of all Skippy, unless you're in your mid 50s you haven't been doing anything since before I was born.

Second, I love the internet heroes like you.

Third, if you actually knew anyone like that would they really be stupid enough to text some moron who would be posting about it on a hockey forum?

Get over yourself little man.

I wouldn't touch Keumper. The report is that he needed eye procedures everyday because he could barely see in the finals. If this is a recurring thing....he's done.

I would go big or go home.

Apparently multiple eye procedures each day.

If it is something that can be repaired, no problem. If not then stay the hell away.

where are these gibson rumours coming from? i haven’t seen any?

One of the media guys a few weeks ago indicated the Leafs had inquired about Gibson in the past and it's sort of gone off from there.

I can see a potential for a deal here. BUT I suspect there's going to be a discrepancy between how he's valued by the Ducks vs leafs.

If they get off the pot they may not make the playoffs.

Both Kuemper and Campbell are risky acquisitions based on the contracts they are likely to receive on the open market.

The trade route might make more sense for us depending on the other pieces involved.

The Kuemper eye stuff scares me. I would be worried to give him long term contract with the cap hit he might get. The best option is looking like resigning Campbell or trading for a goalie.

i see. i had just tuned in and thought i missed something. agree with your thoughts too. i also remember hearing that gibson had said recently he was fine with sticking around for a rebuild. sounds like a guy who is firmly implanted.

As per Lebrun, sounds like Kuemper is bound for Washington as I thought, then Edmonton and Toronto will fight over Campbell (yikes), with Edmonton being able to outbid us, and then the loser (us) will get Murray.

To be honest, though, I think Murray is a decent option to rebound, as long as he can stay healthy. Can he win us a Cup? Nope, but hey expectations have been lowered since Dubas took over, and we just need to make baby steps with our baby GM.

Everyone has forgotten about Bobrovsky. He would have to waive his MNC and Florida would have to retain 50%, but he may well be the best option. (He does have two Vezina trophies.) Florida currently has $750,000 in cap space with a 19 player roster. They need to do something.

Murray is a mess... he was supposed to come into last season with a new coach, they identified some issues and he was ready to go. Didn't happen... he is closer to retirement than he is to winning his winning NHL season.. awful awful.

Just say no to Kuemper so it's Jack or trade.
