If it's not Jack Campbell who should be the Leafs new #1 goalie?

Hmm, the cup winning GM of the year will move rights for any asset available and won't arbitrarily shut down a trade to preserve their reputation :sarcasm:

The wings paid a third for unsigned husso

What do you think we'd have to give up for Gibson
I have no idear but my phone lit up last night with 3 buddies telling me we are in hard on Gibson and Murray .. guessing a 2023 1st and a prospect for some rentention .. tenders right now are hot commodities .. Kuemper asking over 7M per for 7 years so not likely in cards for us

Listening and reading the rumors/talking heads, Steve Dangle had an interesting thought. Two team were in on Ryan McDonough, Nashville and CLB. CLB defence core is bad, they are in desperate need of at least two defenders. Muzzin and McDonough play a similar game. CLB has a backlog of NHL goalies, with another highly rated prospect in the wings. Toronto needs a goalie. Toronto likes to trade with CLB. could there be a fit there?

From what I read Toronto seems to be really high on Kuemper and Husso. Vanecek is a wildcard goalie that has been talked about in some trade circles, he might be a target.

There could be a scenario where Toronto moves Muz's salary without taking on salary or moves Muz salary and takes on a starter. It looks pretty apparent that Toronto wants to retain Engvall, Kase and Sandin and wants to move Muz's and Kerfoot's Salary.

Do you realistically see Muzzin waiving to go to Columbus? The answer is probably no.

Options are drying up. Really hope Dubas has something up his sleeve that doesn't involve overpaying Jack or taking a big gamble on glass boy Murray

We need top 10 or better capable tending period. If we don't get it we're just wasting our time. The team as is does not have a gear in them to will themselves out of a first round, that means they need a tender to be able to steal one for them. Maybe it clicks after that.

I can't really see the ducks retaining for 5 years.

This year's 2 and a prospect or next year's one plus is most likely the going rate I think

Campbell and his agent really have Dubas over a barrel, as the market dries up.

With Edmonton already letting it be known in the stratosphere they're willing to go hard after Campbell, that puts Jack in the drivers seat come negotiating time.

The cost to Toronto keeps going up with each goalie signing and move. IMO

The fall back plan being ex Soo Greyhound goalie Murray wouldn't surprise anyone, as Dubas has a reputation of going back to his roots,

Yes Soup is gone folks .. 5.5M over 4-5 years with Oilers .. da Oilers are way overpaying .. and Soup needs to get paid this contract .. this one does not bother me as Soup had 5 chances past 2 playoffs to show he can be da man and he failed on every count .. not sure why fans are upset really .. Soup not da guy for us much lie freddy was not it either

Get Blackwood for a pick or prospect and go after a top 6 LWer.

I think this is da backup plan if they can't get Murray or Gibson .. OTT and ANA are working every angle to unload these guys at a great price .. to me both are better than Blackwood .. Murray will look much better with a stronger D here in TO and Gibson is flat out a top 5 tender in league on ability .. I hope we nab Gibson as he can flat out steal games and win games team has no business winning .. but da risk is too many years left on contract and like a lot of these contracts likely does not age well .. but 2 years is all we really need and if I was Dubie I don't give a rats *ss what next GM going tp have to do

Admittedly I don’t know much about goalies and I don’t really have an eye for them, but I thought Woll played pretty well for the Leafs last season in limited games. Is he a viable option as a back up?
Not for 2022, he would need to have a massive upward development curve.
He was only meh with Marlies even.

Not sure why people think Blackwell is available he might make a good tandem with newly acquired Vanacek .
Everything I have read is NJ is done with him.
Prefer Bernier as the backup.

OT - is you name in reference to the movie? Stumbled on it the other night, interesting story.

If Dubas hadn’t drawn the line on Hyman we wouldn’t be in such great shape on trading Mikheyev and Campbell’s rights.

Actually watched a couple documentaries on him, and thought TML and ice go hand in hand.

In the interview from prison he flipped the switch and said he was getting angry with the interviewer.
DO NOT PI$$ off the real life Iceman would be my advice.

Great cast. I guess because of Ray Liotta passing it's been getting some play on Netflix. I enjoyed it, surprised I had never seen it before.

Not a mind reader, I cant answer your question.

What might go through his mind is he is an aging dman , might have his minutes dropped so Sandin can play more. In CLB there is no risk of him seeing his ice time drop because of competition.

What would Ottawa need to retain on Murray to make him fit for you guys? What’s the framework of a deal? I can see the sens retaining or taking a depth guy with some cap/term back.

I sure as hell hope it’s not Talbot, who had both his and evidently his wife’s feefees hurt because he had to share the crease with a universally beloved future HoFer.

Barring a trade it’s gonna be Jack, but let me float another name out there: Ilya Samsonov. Don’t ask me why, but I feel like the universe is speaking to me.
