If it's not Jack Campbell who should be the Leafs new #1 goalie?

I imagine Sorokin, Shesterkin, Vas and Helley are all unavailable in trade?

If that's the case, we're rolling the dice year to year for the most part. I'm a big believer in revitalizing Blackwood...but would want proper support behind him.
Yes, of course those goalies are all unavailable. Helle is maybe the only one where the team would listen to an offer before declining.

No it’s not……they don’t cheer for our team, they enjoy beating them and by the sounds of it enjoy patronizing them.
No body’s patronizing the leafs, Tampa to a man said that was the toughest series they had been through to date, and Bednar said he broke down a lot of the tape of our series as a way to find ways to expose and take it to Tampa.

So let’s assume he really did break down the game tape………….he must have found the Leafs faults and improved on them because the Ave’s are mopping the floor with Tampa

I may be wrong but i think Bednar would be more likely to be looking at Tampa's faults not the leafs.

Nevertheless, results matter. It doesn't sit right that leafs get rocked in the first round again and again and again without any meaningful change being made.

One thing they’ve discovered from the Leafs series is that Vasi can be beaten on the blocker side. They’re shooting there and going for tips and redirects on that side. If you recall many of our goals were on that side.

The Mrazek signing was bad from the get-go. A 3.8 mill backup if they thought about bringing Jack back, and he'd obviously want more than that as a starter. Both injury prone and Mrazek looked like a deer in the headlights here- the few games he was healthy.

I agree 100% but some posters are touting the fact that the Ave’s coached watched The Leafs/Tampa game tape

I'm not sure if it's been posted yet.

A few nuggets here, but who knows?

Husso or Campbell? Who should Dubas sign?
Husso was better and is only 28

Why not the Panthers or Rags series then? Again maybe he did.

Yes and Bednar was watching game tape to see the bolts weakness not anything to do with the Leafs being great like a couple of posters have implied

Pretty sure the plan was to either have him as insurance or soup priced him self out/fell on his face and if retaining soup was the move to make them move off petr.
I don’t think even the most vocally negative person could’ve predicted the season mrazek had.

Fleury makes some sense as a guy who might come a bit cheaper, short-term deal, fill the veteran presence/Cup winner/name brand acquisition role. If he's willing to come cheap enough, they might even be able to keep Mrazek as a reclamation project or jettison him for another decent backup. Bringing in Fleury reminds me of the Belfour signing many years ago.

Belfour was still one of the top goalies in the league at the time, I don’t think the same could be said for Fluery.

I don’t know that that was the narrative at the time though. Belfour was 36 and coming off a season where he posted an .895 save percentage and the Stars missed the playoffs. I remember there being real concern he was just about finished.

And Fleury is only one season removed from a Vezina.

Belfour pulled his career out of the gutter here. He was a 37 year old coming off the worst season of his career and back to back down seasons.

The signing worked out great, but there were major warning signs and concerns. Hell, I remember him being booed his first preseason here

So long ago I don’t really recall but I trust you’re recalling it correctly. I do remember he was excellent during his stay.
Would you consider Fluery to be less of a risk?

I'd love to get Fluery and him come here do great and win us the cup. First obvious reasons is winning the cup. But with Fluery as goalie would be amazing cuz I know a guy who's a huge pens fan who loves Fluery and hates the leafs and now has a vendetta against Dubas and MLSE cuz they wouldn't hire him on as a sports phycologist.(or something within that field) He claims he was too smart for Dubas or some dumb rubbish. So ya.
