Not sure if this post is a joke or not.

:sarcasm: ???

How many years ago was that? After all the games he's played and all the work he has put in, you don't think another team would want him? Let's see the contract he gets from another team if we don't sign him. He may not score goals, but he is extremely valuable. But I know, he can't fight, so he sucks.

No he can't fight which is okay but he also can't score, pass, or play very physical. You know all those other aspects involved in the game of hockey besides face-offs.

Krieder , like the way he sticks up for his teammates , esp DZ ,while being on the trading block, Krieder still had his back a couple of games ago

If Boyle ever wore the C for this team, I would consider following another team. It's horrible to watch another team beat up your captain. It's an entirely different level when you you know that he will be beat up on a regualr basis. For the love of God. If that guy could get any softer his bones would turn to mush and he would turn into a jellyfish.

Boyle will never get a C but personally i'd love it if he got an A. Yeah guys he doesn't score and he can't fight and you all know so much about hockey that Boyle for sure is dust. Its hard to call out a guy who clearly doesn't know / how to fight but the whole season be the first one to stick up for another. He's a penalty killing asset that is consistent in his defensive play. The guy is a solid 3rd/4th line player that other teams would be excited to have.

MacDonagh with the C for me. At least from my POV he's the only person thats stood out from the crowd in terms of leadership this season. And that includes a healthy Callahan.

He's an entire person above the shoulder of the rest of the D corp this season. Awarding the C to players who underperform is in my eyes completely detrimental to what the C is supposed to stand for. the Captain leads he way by example, he does not award turnovers that the opposition profits from.

As for A's I'd want to wait until the season ends. But today I'd want Zucc and Girardi with the A's.

It'll probably be Girardi or Staal.

C: Staal
A: Girardi
A: Nash

That's my guess.

I would go with

C: McDonagh
A: Staal
A: Girardi

Then in a few years

C: McDonagh
A: Kreider
A: Stepan

Just don't give it to Stepan. The extra letter on his sweater may slow him down. Can't have that.

You might as well write, "I don't understand hockey," when you write this "Boyle is soft" crap because it's absurd. Just because he doesn't knock everyone down every time he touches someone like it's a video game, that doesn't mean he's soft. No one knocks everyone down every time he touches someone, not even Chara. Put down the video games, read a book.

Wow, are we really having this conversation? Since he has been back he has been very good , and back to his old self. Team USA has him in the leadership group, he is a fan favorite, and he works hard, oh and yeah he can score F'ing goals. He played nearly half the games compared to most of the forwards and is only 4 goals from the team leader.

Chances are he will be back, especially if he continues to have a strong 2nd half.

If he does leave, and they give Stepan the "C" then that is the day I become a Devils fan. Yeah that bad!!!!

Do you really not understand that Cally might not be coming back next year?

He is an AMAZING player and our captain as long as he is on the team.

Reality is that he is in a contract year and we are one bad losing streak away from being knocked out of the play off pictures before the trade dead line. If they are shopping girardi for picks there is a decent chance they will commit to a low scale rebuild and Cally will be dealt as well. I don't want him gone but that is how contract years work for high end players.

Yeah, I am not really seeing enough evidence of McDonagh's leadership that would warrant him being named captain over Staal, who has held a leadership position since 2010, or Girardi, who is one of the longest tenured Rangers.

And I really don't see much of a difference in demeanor between McDonagh and Staal - both strike me as lead by example types. There aren't any fiery leaders in this locker room.

He never knocks anyone down because he's the one being put on his ass all the time. What happened at the end of the Flyers game is almost on the level of embarrassment as the Girardi/Carcillo incident.

Damn Flyers always have to punk us around.

McDonagh and it's not even close IMO. He's emerged as the best player on the team, and a heart and soul guy with skill. We don't know who's the most vocal in the locker room but McD to me doesn't look too quiet.
McDonagh - C
Nash - A
Staal - A

Scary How Many People Say McD

He would be a horrible captain. One of our best players and outright best defenseman for sure, but would be horrible in the captain role. Staal would be mediocre at best, and Girardi a total fail.

Stepan definitely has potential, as does Nash (experience), and skip a year with no captain and Kreider would probably be the best of them all. But McD? I have much love for him, but he would totally suck as a captain. And yes, that's just an opinion, but it's a far more reality based opinion than one declaring otherwise. :p:

People who think it will be the coach's decision only really do not understand how the Rangers operate.
